Contest: ENTER TV&M Avatar Contest: Destination: Moon -- The Dramatization

I have the unusual honour of running the avatar contests in SF&F, TV&M and Miscellaneous all at the same time this week. So I thought it would be fun to have an overall theme for all three contests. And what better choice of theme than...

As you know, last week we celebrated the 50th anniversary of humans landing on the moon for the very first time! In honour of this momentous occasion, our overall theme is Destination: Moon!

For this specific contest, we will be looking at The Dramatization. Your entry can be from any movie or TV show depicting a dramatized take on actual events related to humans on, or going to, the moon. This may be anything from the Apollo program, and also anything from the preceding projects Mercury and Gemini, since the moon missions built upon both of those. The only stipulation is that your entry must be from a fictionalized/dramatized account of actual events (think From the Earth to the Moon or First Man).

Standard avatar contest rules apply: maximum image size of 200 x 200, and maximum image size of 1 MB. You may enter two avatars. Since this is the one that I'm most concerned about having enough sources for, you can enter something from a movie or show that has already been entered, as long as your entry features either a different character, or a significantly different scene. Contest will be open for about a week.

Here are my entries to start us off:

- Apollo 13

-
Taraji P. Henson as Katherine Johnson, Hidden Figures

If you are interested, I invite you to check out the other two contests:
Have fun! :techman:

Huh. There actually hasn't been that much dramatization around the moon landing that doesn't stir into SF.

Okay, this might be a stretch, but I'm gonna try if this qualifies:

Last call! I'm planning to put the poll up on Monday.

Well, that was odd!

My first instinct was to say 'no', because there were no actual jam sessions on the moon! But I said that the entry just had to be *from* something that dramatized an actual event, and the video does do that with the astronaut coming out of the lander. Admittedly, it's not what I originally had in mind, but by my own rules, it does qualify! :)

Besides, there are so few entries, I don't want to disqualify an entry needlessly. For anyone still looking for something, no one has touched From the Earth to the Moon yet... that had 12 individual episodes... a veritable gold mine!

I took your point to heart, and did one of that moment in the video to replace the previous one:

Curse you, @Kai "the spy" ! A day later, and this song is STILL IN MY HEAD!

And outside of the chorus, I don’t even understand most of it!

Found a translation online, which I find pretty accurate:

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

When there's dancing I want to lead
even if you're whirling around alone
Let yourselves be controlled a little
I'll show you how it really goes
We're making a nice round dance
Freedom is playing on all violins
Music is coming out of the White House
and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

I know moves that are very useful
and I will protect you from missteps
And whoever doesn't want to dance at the end
doesn't know yet that they must
We're making a nice round dance
I will show you the way
Santa Claus is coming to Africa
and Mickey Mouse is standing in front of Paris

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

We're all living in America
Coca-Cola, Wonderbra
We're all living in America
America, America

This is not a love song
This is not a love song
I don't sing my mother tongue
No, This is not a love song

We're all living in America
America is wonderful
We're all living in America
America, America

We're all living in America
Coca-Cola, sometimes war
We're all living in America
America, America

As for the song being stuck in your head, maybe this will help:

Thought I'd bump this thread up with some more moon-related music.
