Faithful to character archetypes, rebooting in a theater near you, 12.25.08.

Sounds great to me. And for anyone upset about the rebooted franchise, fear not! By the time people are tired of Star Trek 2.0, we'll have CG good enough to recreate or continue TOS/TNG/etc. flawlessly. By 2040 we may even have holodecks to live Star Trek in, whichever version of the series you'd like.

*reads article*

Nope, don't see reboot anywhere. Seems it will be out on 12/25/08 though. And it does quote Karl Urban. Two out of three ain't bad.

Enough of the reboot crap! If they were going to reboot the damn thing, why are all the characters essentially the same as the originals in all the details yet revealed? A reboot should have at least ONE thing out of left field, like Dr. Leonore McCoy. ;)

Chief Science Officer T'Spock! :D

Yep...it'll be a 'reboot'...in which nothing of real consequence regarding canon and continuity seems to have changed at all.

Now, let us pray that there will be no tribble at all.

Are you saying that you suspect that something will happen like I posted a few days ago, comparing it to SUPERMAN RETURNS?

The Enterprise and uniforms (like the Superman costume) look a bit different, and there's a new cast playing the characters, but all established history is treated as legit?

Makes sense.

Since there's nothing in the article about a reboot, there's no reason to drag that in except that you know it provokes some people.

This is just to once again wave the flag of 'reboot' in the faces of people who see no reason to assume Trek XI is a reboot. Tiresome.

Don't you mean Katherine Pulaski? ;)

They're not going for a reboot because, well, it's been done before in some ways. We've had the new McCoy - Pulaski, to an extent Voy's Doc. The new Spock - Data, but more literally a black Spock - Tuvok - and a female Spock - T'Pol. We've had a straight Southern interpretation of McCoy last time - Trip - so they're going with a Kiwi to liven things up. And we've had plenty of interchangable ethnic minorities like TOS's background crew. :)

Provokes people in the same way you try to provoke people with your sig.

Why is this reboot thing so very important to him? It's not like he's the only one saying it... nor was he the first...

I'm wondering just how long you're going to keep beating that horse corpse. At this point it's really just a bloody pulp...

I read the article. Nope... no overt or insinuated "reboot" talk in there.

If it looks like it lives under a bridge, sounds like it lives under a bridge and frequently asks you to answer his riddles three...
