TV antenna advice?

The split design that has the power injector near the set and the amp up on the pole helps in those overload situations. Just unplug the injector. :)

If the OP is in the deep fringe area it won't be an issue though. (CEA blue violet, or pink antenna codes, maybe even red in some cases)

True enough. Thats my problem where I live. AntennaWeb says I get nothing at all.. No ifs ands or buts about it. However, Tvfool says I can get said stations. But i'd hate to dump money into said antenna/amp/pole/setup if it's not 100% that it will work.
 
I *believe* that NABs involvement with antennaweb has caused them to limit its search responses to the local DMA of the address. I know that the site used to give me bearing and ranges to Richmond VA stations, but no longer does.
