I always kind of wished they had explored the plot development differently for this episode. I think it would have been cooler if they had not quite figured out that "Dr. Lester" was telling the truth and that the crew had mutinied. It would have made for some great action scenes to have Kirk and the loyal members of the Security team fighting it out with the mutineers. I found that the devices used for revealing the truth of Lester's evil deed was a bit anti-climactic.

Oh, I like the cliffhanger idea. After a failed mutiny, Kirk (aka Lester) beams down with the mutineers to Benecia where they await execution...cliff hanger.

Cut to next season: Just as the security team is about to phaser all of the main characters, JJ Abrams beams down and explains to all of them that the time line has been shifted and that none of this ever really happened. The episode ends with Kirk, JJ, and Nero getting smashed on Romulan Ale while the rest of the crew is left scratching their heads. THE END! You love it, right?
