Turhan Bey has Passed Away

Ohmigod. I had no idea he was still alive.

I remember him best as the sinister Priest of Karnak in The Mummy's Tomb.

Emperor Turhan said:
The past tempts us, the present confuses us, and the future frightens us. And our lives slip away, moment by moment, lost in that vast terrible in between. But there is still time to seize that one last fragile moment. To choose something better, to make a difference, as you say. And I intend to do just that.

Rest in Peace Mr. Bey

I've seen 2 of his roles in the Arabian Knights movies, and his two roles in Babylon 5, and a couple other roles, and he always seemed like such a sweet and humble gentle man. He was a suave gentle hottie when he was young, and a suave gentle Father/Grandfather in his later years

Just finished watching The Comng of Shadows and Learning Curve. I just really, really like the man portrayed in those two episodes and earlier characters I've seen him play, there is just such a magnetism to such a gentle soul he shows, IMHO, of course.

I think you're not alone in that opinion. Back in the day, JMS posted the cast/crew's reaction to Bey's character dying:
So I did, and we cast him, and everyone on the set loved him...to the point that, at the end of the shoot, they were saying, "You BASTARD, how could you bring this WONDERFUL man in here and then KILL HIM OFF SO WE CAN'T HAVE HIM BACK?!"

jms

Jan
