Trying to track down a written story

I remember this in one of the printed Dr Who annuals book, I had one or two of them in the 80s and I remember it was I think a 5th Doctor story the TARDIS lands inside a living creature and what got me about the story is that Tegan was inside an observation room where the creature was pressing up against the window but how is that possible if they are inside the police box?

They never did explain that..

Since posting this I found it. The story is called The Armageddon Chrysalis

The Classic Who stories from Hartnell to Colin Baker were adapted to prose novels (aka the Target books). It's possible to have read a novel version without having seen the story on TV.

No the one i found was from one of the large Dr Who Annuals

was all ready to answer xD

The illustrations are great. Solo Doctor story as well I think. Doesn’t he squeeze through part of the creature in a suit and have to squish some part with his hand to trigger a response?
It’s in the big ‘Doctor who special’ book from 86 ish as well.

Yes and Tegan was in the observation room which has never been shown in live action and seems super trippy

Im hunting down a copy of the annual. The story had pictures of the observation room window. I'm pretty sure Tegan was in that room

I don't think they ever meant to replicate the TV show but be their own thing. Same for all the novels
