Trying to remember the title of a vampire movie?

The Borgified Corpse

There's this vampire movie that I saw a long time ago and I'm trying to remember the title of it. My dad rented it in the early 1990s, so it must have been from then or the late 1980s. I remember a lot of stuff about it, just not the title or who was in it (if it was even anyone worth recognizing).

It was about this female vampire. She may have been a prostitute. She sleeps with this old mob boss, either because he's paying her or as a pretext for getting him alone so she can feed off of him. I remember her voice-over narration, "I should have left him alone, but he annoyed me." So, she feeds off of this old mob boss that annoys her, but instead of dying, he turns into a vampire himself. Then he becomes the bad guy for the rest of the movie. Because now he's both a mob boss and a vampire, so that's double evil, I guess.

Then the main female vampire falls in love with a human police detective and they have to work together to get rid of vampire mob boss. There's a steamy love scene between the female vampire & the detective in a hotel room that they hide away in during the daytime. The female vampire has some full-frontal nude scenes and I vaguely remember her having some kind of European accent. French, perhaps?

Anyway, I don't remember much else except for the end when they set the vampire mob boss on fire. As the flames engulf him, he walks towards them and taunts, "You think you've ruined me?! All you've ruined is this suit!" But then the flames consume him and his ashes fall to the ground, dead.

Is this ringing a bell for anyone else?

It sounds like The Hunger, maybe?

Anne Parillaud, John Landis and Vampires?

Frankly, I'm ashamed I have not seen this movie.

No. I've seen The Hunger and I've seen it recently enough to remember it. Besides, even at such a young age, I think I would have remembered seeing a lady vampire making out with Susan Sarandon. ;)

That's the one! At least, I'm pretty sure. The description sounds too close for it not to be.

The cast seems to have a lot of people who I at least vaguely remember but probably would not have recognized when I was that young, like Chazz Palminteri, Anthony LaPaglia, & Don Rickles.

And I'm wondering if my dad was on a big Robert Loggia kick at the time because I think we saw this during the same week that we watched Life Pod.

If anyone ends up watching it, make sure (if you can) that you're watching the uncut version and not the lame-o cut one that came out on U.S. DVD.

I still remember when it got released in Australia as "A French Vampire in America" Ugh.
