Trying to remember something I watched...

There's an episode of a sci-fi series I've been trying to remember, but all my searching has been fruitless.

I've tried looking for it in The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and The X-Files episode listings but so far I've not found reference to this particular storyline. And I'm certain it wasn't just a sci-fi-ish dream I had.

There's a small percentage of females who are born with a "Z chromosome" that gives them telekinetic abilities. The story follows a young girl who's abilities are starting to awaken and shady government agents who want to capture her and do experiments on her. (A previous experiment on trying to remove this Z Chromosome from another woman left her confined to a wheelchair.)

That's pretty much as much of the storyline I can remember apart from the ending.

One of the agents tracks the girl and her parents down as is about to take her into custody, but the girl uses her telekinesis on the agent to "remove the bad bits" and turn him good (I think).

Does this ring any bells for anyone?

Was there an older woman with powers too helping the girl, and talked about how people feared women like them throughout the ages? She mentioned Salem, and people thought they were witches.

I honestly don't remember, but it's certainly possible.

It must have been either late 80's or early 90's.

I wasn't sure if I'd misremembered the "using a crystal to focus powers" thing from the Thunderbirds live-action movie instead of this episode, I guess they both had that same idea.
