Eric tries to save Bill from losing his humanity; Andy must face the consequences of a pact that he made; Alcide prepares for a showdown; Sam and Luna test their limits.

Hello, bloodbath. Please, be epic. And goodbye, Alan Ball. Hello, new show runner.

Are you ready?

I still want to know how ghost Godric can be "killed" by the Lilith vampire demon. He's already met the true death. You can't bleed an apparition.

Gods, if they'd kill off Bill I'd salute them, but I suspect it's going to be Sam. Bastards.

Much better than I was expecting.

Russell met the true death, finally. Where is Steve?

Jason has gond crazy. But damn if that boy aint hot all suited up and firing guns,

"My light broke!" lmao! Poor Andy. Now he has four fairy daughters. Do they age rapidly too?

So Alcide is finally packmaster. Still don't care.

Other than Eric, I think all the chancellors are dead now.

They finally killed off Bill only to bring him back? Wtf?

Did I miss the second Sookie? Anna only played one character here that I noticed? Hmmm

Bring on the new blood, this has how has lost its bite. Even the music has sucked lately. That just seemed really lacking as a finale if you can even call it that, it's more like the season ended rather than climaxed into anything special. The compound ended through steady attrition more than anything else. Sorry to be so negative but it just feels like the train has gone off the rails.

Some cool stuff with the shifters though even if the whole storyline seems out of place and pointless. Speaking of pointless would the story have changed at all had they not stormed the compound?

I haven't watched it yet but I'm fining this show harder and harder to watch.

I thought it was a great episode. Best of all, Lafayette's comments during the births.
I also hope Luna survives.
Alcide as pack master..YES!
Good-bye to that stupid guardian council.
Bill as the ultimate bad guy? Well, we'll just have to see, now won't we?

After watching it I've got to wonder, was "Save Yourself" the episode title, or a warning not to watch it? Did someone promise a cast cleaning? Who died... Russell? That scene was kind of a waste, may as well have had it at the end of the previous episode if you were just going to kill him right there anyway.

Whatever happened with uhh... Warlow? Did the season really just end without a Warlow reveal? Seriously?

They killed a bunch of secondary and tertiary characters no one cared about anyway. I guess the title meant "save yourself from this episode".

This episode was stupid even by True Blood standards. Sometimes it was stupid but kinda funny (Jason playing Call Of Duty with vampires, "my light just broke", Luna as Newlan) but mostly it was just beyond the "so bad it's good" territory, where this show was since about season 2 ... How the hell do you come up with the scene where Sam, as a fly, flies into that vamp's mouth and kills her by changing back into human form? What is the logic behind this scene? Or that ridiculous scene where whats-her-name flies through the room, killing vampires? Do the show's writers even care anymore?

Now that I've had a chance to let this "digest" a bit, I'm not sure it deserves the rating I gave. So much was left unanswered. For Sookie, less than two days ago, she found out about this dude that killed her parents and she has seemingly forgotten all about it. What, now?

How, precisely, did Eric find Russell? Where did Steve go? He ran off, he tried to reach in through somebody's car window, and then nothing. Really?

Pam is giddy over Tara liking her? Pam? PAM?

Eric hasn't seen Pam in ages, but he sees her for a few seconds then he's all "ok, you have to go now."

What did that fairy-bolt do to Jason?

Why could Russell see inside the Fairy room? Yeah, he'd had blood, but so what?

There is no redemption for Bill. Or Billeth. Let it go. Only, they won't, because he's married to the star and producer.

This series is mostly fun while watching it, but when you think about it later, and reflect upon what actually happened, it just falls apart.

I won't be doing these polls next season. If someone would like to take it up, feel free. Or do a post for the season. Or whatever. At this point, I feel like I'm one of the writers. I just don't care.

It wasn't quite as good as last night's episode of Breaking Bad; that's for sure. Now there was a genuine shocker that's going to have ramifications by the bucketful. True Blood's writers can't follow through meaningfully on anything. It's just a whole bunch of throw it at the screen and see what sticks. They count on their audience having a low attention span.

I still don't know why the writers introduced a brother for Sam two seasons ago only to kill himself after he and Sam had only limited meaningful interaction. They finally interacted when Tommy killed his parents then poof! Sam rejected him (again) and he went and got himself killed to earn forgiveness. How much more impact might that have had if we'd actually seen Tommy and Sam together for more than five minutes? The previous season ended with Sam shooting Tommy for really no good reason. Tommy stole some money out of anger because Sam had rejected him and thrown him out of Merlotte's for no substantial reason. We had one good skinwalking episode, and then nothing.

It's not just Tommy and Sam. It's a problem that permeates everything. Nothing has any real impact.

This show is not any where in the same league as Breaking bad, Dorian. lol

What an awefull season finale. Why don't they just make this into a cartoon and be done with it.

I liked it very much.. one of the better finales of the show (not that that's saying much).

- Sam exploding the Vampirette from within.. that actually had me shocked and laughing at the same time. Awesome scene! :techman:

- Jason turning Blade-light and playing Paintball with Vampire goons.. not bad

- Bill losing all his marbles.. didn't believe it till the end, i always thought they'd reveal some kind of masterplan of his to destroy the Authority from within.. guess he's now the evil Vampire god now. Don't know what to make of it.

- the Faerie birth scene at Merlotte's was awesome as heck.. i love clueless Andy, he's so adorable. And once again.. flamin' Lafayette is the best!

Cake takes the Pam/Tara team.. Queen Bitch and Princess Bitch together. Damn.. they alone will make the next season worth it. That no one got the idea to put them together sooner is a crime.. i literally laughed my ass off

See ya in about a year! :techman:

Yeah, it's not just Tommy and Sam. The problem with this show is that it started like an adaptation of the book series, but then Alan Ball decided that he can write better stories in this world and he threw the books away, which is OK if what he writes is at least consistent with something.
What he did wrong is to keep all the dozens of completely useless characters that contribute nothing to the plot and just waste time. Instead of focusing the narrative on some part of the story, he tries to cram several completely unrelated plots into each season, introducing even more useless characters which usually appear on screen for about 15 minutes and then die.
The books are told from Sookie's perspective, so every character that's introduced, has at least some connection to her story. I don't know what kind of story Alan Ball wanted to tell, but it's just not working, and no amount of T&A and blood and gore can cover the fact that nothing that happens makes any sense even within the insane logic of the series so far.

Agreed on all counts! Loved it, they turned the trash-factor really up a notch. That's what I like about the show (that and all these tiny character beats where people just look at each other or make a face). :D

How, precisely, did Eric find Russell?

He has a connection to Sookie from when she ingested his blood, so I presume he was looking for her to protect her from Russell and to bring Bill back from Crazytown, came upon an empty field where she was supposed to be, saw Russell standing there getting pelted by light, and killed him.

Here's what Eric says at the beginning of the ep when Nora tries to go after Sookie: "She's a waitress. A waitress who's saved my life more than once and whose fear vibe very graciously brought me here tonight allowing me to settle an ancient debt. Thank you for that, by the way."

I enjoyed the finale very much. It is one of the better finales of the entire show's run. I was surprised, but pleasantly so, that the Russell storyline was finally wrapped up. I didn't even mind that it was done so quickly, despite all the build up.

For the most part there was very little I saw to critique for this finale. I still can't believe that Bill went total dark side. At first I thought it was a ruse and then I thought that Sookie was going to pull him back at the end, but no dice. It's a good bet that she will be able to next season, but until then it has been cool seeing evil Bill.
