Interesting article. I didn't even think that she was 'seriously' dead. I thought it was just a head wound, I didn't see any brain splatter when I watched the show Sunday. Anyway, the ghost angle they introduced, and Lafayette as a medium gives them a perfect way to bring her back, if she is in fact dead. They also hinted at zombies with some of the Halloween costumes, but Zombie Tara would suck, if she didn't have any personality.

She looked pretty dead to me. It looked like the shotgun blast blew her brains out and she was lying in a big pool of blood. Here's the screenshot of her being shot:

I agree that the most probable way for her to stay on the show is being a ghost, with Lafayette being a medium ...

Tara was totally wasted this season, so I hope she stays dead. If they bring her back as a ghost, fine. Maybe then they can do something useful with her.

So, after last week (which I thought was pretty strong), this week we got crap. Just a bunch of things happening for no logical reason. About the only thing that made any sense was Marnie coming after Jesus' magic, although it's a bit strange that it was so much effort for him to conjure it up last week and then this week he just has to chant a few words and it's mask time.

Nan showing up to start a rebellion against the Authority with Bill and Eric, and then they just kill her for insulting them? Really? I'm sure she's said much worse to them in the past. Doesn't seem like there was any point to that except shock value, and I never felt Nan was fully exploited as a character, so what a waste.

I just do not care about Bill/Sookie/Eric. Keep King Bill; the rest can die. Eric's been an utter waste this season, with that stupid amnesia storyline.

Not sure where things are going with Jason/Jessica, but more naked Jessica is fine with me. :p Jason also had that beatdown from Hoyt coming. You don't break the bro code, man.

I'm disappointed Debbie went out the way she did. A knock-down drag-out like they had in Tara's bedroom last season would've been awesome. But at least she's dead. What an obnoxious character.

Russell's back? I thought he was pretty played-out by the time they went all Mafia burial on him.

The rest was OK. Not sure if Rene was just a Halloween ghost or will stick around.

As for the season as a hole... erm, whole: the Marnie storyline was excellent, mostly due to Fiona Shaw's performance. She completely sold it without going over-the-top (as happened with Edgington) or being too underplayed (see: Maryann). She hit it just right. The other storylines came off as distractions, a trend which started last year and seems to have gotten worse this year. Too many unrelated plot threads. Maybe with a bunch of the cast killed off, this will get better.

I am a bit annoyed that the fairy stuff from the premiere amounted to nothing, other than producing the time-jump which, in retrospect, was completely unnecessary. They could've gone forward a few months and had the same effect, and it would've made more sense. Speaking of things that were dropped: the whole Crystal/panther thing. Jason got away, Crystal's "big mama", and that's it? Story over? Well, okay. If that means we don't see the methhead redneck hillbilly panthers anymore, I can live with that.

I like this show but I feel like the writers have completely lost it sometimes, like they don't know what the season is going to be about so they just throw a bunch of things out there and see what works. Guys, that's why you hash all this stuff out before you start shooting. I get the impression they started this season with a vague idea of what its overall arc would be (witches vs. vampires) and then each writer does what they want with the individual episodes, with no one managing how each storyline plays out through the course of the season. It comes off very sloppy. This was easily the most unfocused season yet.

I hope they get their shit together next year, since I understand it will be the last season. Go out on a high note! And by that, I mean kill everyone. ;)

It would have been interesting that while a few months would had passed in Sookie's absence, in Fairyland a year had passed for Sookie. Maybe she would have returned to Bon Temp as a more confident, mature person instead of the stupidly naive person who constantly bounces from one guy to another.

I thought this was a good season overall and the finale may have been the most "stuffed" episode of the series to date. So many things happened. @_@ That does not necessarily mean it was a great episode but it was certainly packed with stuff to think about. I like the idea of Russell Edgington returning, I personally didn't think his business was so much resolved in the third season as it was put on hold. The re-appearance of reverend Steve as a vampire was quite unexpected and may have more potential to be an interesting storyline for Jason than the shifter stuff from this year. It's been said already but Jessica in that red riding hood outfit was super hot. Episode 4 fangs and the seasons as a whole I would rank roughly 3 > 4 > 1 > 2 at this point.

What do you think the main theme will be next season? Vampire War? Faery War? Attack of the Ghosts? Zombie season?

I figure Tara will be back as some kind of Zombie, if not a ghost...

As for naked Jessica... While the scene was pretty steamy, she wasn't THAT naked... God.. How shallow am i?

"EXCUSE ME! WE'RE KIND OF CRISPY OVER HERE!"

The first half seemed to drag. Not sure if it was because the "final" confrontation with Marnie was a little unnecessary, or if I was just waiting for what I knew (based on the last three seasons) would be a big cliffhanger.

Nice to see Gran again, though I was kind of like "Really?" when Rene showed up. Kind of interested in what's going to happen with Andy and the Fairies. Might be interesting if he gets together with Shannon and there turns out to be bad blood between the fairies and witches.

Sookie killing Debbie was kind of cold-blooded but I think justified given their history and what had just immediately happened. I hope Alcide will forgive her!

I don't think Tara's dead, at least the same way Juliet wasn't dead at the end of LOST's season five finale.

I like the Jessica/Jason stuff, and I'm glad they had Jason do the stand-up thing and tell Hoyt, even if it destroys their friendship. Jason may be a cad and a moron but he's still a good person I think. Still, poor Hoyt. Nobody wants to be in his position because it absolutely blows.

Thrilled that we are (seemingly) going to see Russell again. Not crazy about the Reverend being a vampire though -- last time we saw him, I think, was on some news broadcast on TV in the background during season three. And, as someone (rightfully) pointed out to me today, even if he is a vampire, Jason would have to be even more fucking stupid to invite him in before the Reverend could do anything to him. (Unless the Reverend has a rocket launcher or something like that...)

I could totally see Bill and Eric running things and taking the fight to the AVL and the Authority -- that would be awesome.

Anyway. Interesting, if uneven season.

Speaking of Rene' and his warning to Arlene about Terry's dead soldier buddy. Wonder what that was all about.

I'm kinda interested in the Reverend as a vampire. Is he gonna embrace his new nature and turn into a killer, or will he be one them self-hatin' vampires?

I also found the shock value a bit lame.. what's the reverend gonna do to Jason? He's a vampire and Jason is in his house.. he can't enter and Jason will most likely not invite him in. If i were a writer i'd have a field day inventing lines for Jason to say to the reverend all while wearing nothing but a broad grin

I can't believe they killed Jesus and Tara-- but at least Tara will be back somehow.

I didn't realize this was the season finale. It's kind of anticlimactic. What was the point of having Gary Cole on as Grampa for five minutes and then never use him again? A lot of threads seem to have been left dangling.

Still, this was a good episode overall. It was nice to see Gran make an appearance, and pull Marnie right out of Lafayette. :rommie: Bill and Eric burning at the stake was hilarious. And Pam's breakdown and Nan's demise were both fantastic.

And, of course, Jessica finally getting almost naked was great. She and Tara both need a really good nude scene.

Ugh.. What a CRAP way to end the season. Seriously.

Yeah, there were some pretty neat shock deaths, but that SHOULD NOT cover up what was a truly CRAPTASTIC ending to the season long "witch" arc. And the "dead spirits" coming back for everyone. Yay.

What a crap way to end the Marnie's spirit. What a whimper of an ending.

Why did they feel that Sookie's grandma (who has been doing NOTHING all these years) suddenly comes back and pulls Marnie's spirit out, would be exciting. (it was not) How cool could it have been if the spirit of Jesus - someone with a strong link to the arc, could have done it instead?

Ugh... But then this spirit crap is going to be the complete undoing of this show. Lafayette is an experienced medium now, so LITERALLY ANYONE CAN COME BACK THROUGH HIM.   Do they not know what kind of pandoras box of deus ex machina they have unleashed here?

The real ballsy ending would have been to kill off Lafayette. :klingon:

Umm... Positives? Not many. There are very few decent characters left. Sheriff/Detective Andy. His cousin Terry (my remaining favorite), and Sam. The rest are all idiots or ruined characters.

EDIT: Pam (sadly reduced character) should get still something for the best line of the night: "I hate her f*cking fairy vagina, and her f*cking stupid name!" :guffaw:
