With only 12 minutes to go before True Blood this week, I finally have internet access. I was beginning to wonder!

From Zap 2 It -

Bill warns Sookie about the dangers she will face; Sam recalls dark memories; Eric takes precautions; Arlene turns to Holly for help; Jason deals with the unexpected; Jessica is torn between Tommy and Hoyt.

Oh Eric  Locking up Sookie is hardly going to turn her from Bill!

Good episode, but filler I suppose for the finale.

Sookie had the best line: I'm a fucking Fairy...how lame is that?

Not as good as last week, with that awesome Russell ending. It was good to see the fallout from his killing that anchor. Speaking of which, he is really off the deep end because of Talbot's demise, isn't he? I also must say that every time I see Tara my heart skips a beat. She is fine, and Jason is a fool for never having gotten with her!

Yeah Russell's monologue at end of last week's episode was probably one of the best moments in the entire series.

This one wasn't great. Not sure what they were aiming for with the Sam flashbacks ... Suddenly he's a jewel thief? That came out of nowhere. Nice to see Talbot again briefly ... and Jesus turned around his opinion on V rather quickly.

Tara didn't flip out when she found out about Jason/Eggs. I was expecting some major blow-up, and there wasn nothin.

The opening line of the episode was hilarious. Way early, but hilarious. No Nan this time? Ah well.

Russell's gotta go. He's too big a threat to leave out there. I'm surprised the hooker didn't recognize him from being on tv and newspapers.

I think it was a bit of a lit down, maybe like catching your breath before the end.
Sam being a jewel thief makes since, we've seen him stealing before, him killing especially the defenseless guy on the ground, not so much.

Voted 2 fangs (maybe a bit harsh). I'm not sure how you can stall and advance the plot at the same time but this episode seemed to manage it. No movement at all on the Russel / Eric thing was kind of disappointing.

I rather regret we didn't get to see the Special Forces raid on Russell's house. I'm curious what kind of personnel and equipment would be used for a potential fight against a 3,000 year old vampire.

Guns with wooden bullets and wooden swords, body armor lined with silver. Silver handcuffs for retention. Thats all you need.

Sounds like they did the raid during the day too.

This season's kinda strange. Everyone's running around buried neck deep in problems and no one else seems to notice. Hell, Sookie doesn't even go to work anymore.

The whole Russell bit has me wondering again why vampires revealed themselves. I don't see a single advantage to it.

"All" you need? I'd imagine that the Authority, Nan and Co. are not amused by the prospect of handling such an old Vampire, unless they have other similarly-aged Vamps running around. Wooden stakes and silver armour or not, Russell could tear them to pieces like they were standing still or at the very least get away. The average Vampire is as powerless as a human to him, even someone like Eric. Somehow I don't see the average Vamp Guard being 2500-3000+ years old, and I'd say even a vampire Eric's age is relatively uncommon. No idea how old a member of the Authority or Nan is, but it's obvious that political power is not explicitely tied to age and physical power beyond a point, so I couldn't speculate whether or not any of them are that old in order to handle him on their own.

So does a vampire get stonger the older he is? Certainly he gains experience but do his pysical powers increase with age? has this been mentioned? Talbot was 700 years old and was killed because he was decieved not because Eric was 300 years older, Russell will probably tricked or deceived somehow leading to his death i suspect.

So does a vampire get stonger the older he is?

Yes. This has been mentioned on the show a few times, including during the Godric arc. The older a vampire is, the more powerful (physically/mentally) he is. Some vampires (Russell, Eric) can fly. Younger ones (Bill, Jessica) can't. Also, the older a vampire is, the less he has to feed.

I wonder about the vamps that made Russel? If they are still around wouldnt they be even stronger than he was? I doubt he is the oldest vamp in existence.

Russel could very well be one of the oldest vampires still alive. The implication is that he's relied on his werewolf thralls to protect him through the years, and that doing so is something only he has had the balls to do. So he's had a veritable army of souped-up war machines protecting him while he sleeps (which is when most "real" vampire hunters would try to track one down) and elsewhere.

Of the old vampires we've met, both have gone insane in a different fashion. Godric became disillusioned with life, and Russel is just nucking futs. So that certainly contributes to why you don't see many really old ones around, too. I'm sure suicide is pretty common after you reach a certain age if for no other reason than because living would be so damn boring and exhausting.

And yes, a few guys in "silver-lined" SWAT armor and carrying wooden ammo wouldn't be much of a threat to Russel. The guy moves like lightning and can rip your spine out before anyone has any idea what happened. It's going to take guile to bring him down, and I dare say Eric is much more conniving than Russel is. Russel's too reliant on his massive balls and rash behavior to follow a solid strategy, whereas Eric was raised to be a king of a warrior people.

Didn't Maryanne use Sam to steal things for her at some point in time? I thought that was brought up in S2.

dont quite remember, but i thought he broke into her house to steal and got caught.

but i think Claudine will somehow play into Russell's demise. Maybe the ferries unite in helping Sookie out and go against their code of interfering in the affairs of humans and supernaturals, thus exposing themselves setting up stuff for next season.

Yes. Sam being a thief is already established. I don't know why people are acting like it's coming out of nowhere. Doubly so when he has huge stacks of money just laying around the bar, as we've seen multiple times.
