I enjoyed the episode, but just what the fuck is Maryann? At first I had her pegged as a shape-shifter but now I'm leaning more towards her being either a witch of the goddess Aphrodite. Did I hear wrong, or was she thinking in Greek when Sookie read her mind?
It was Greek, and she is a Maenad ... with that said, magic is alive and well in the True Blood series.

As with last week, this was a setting up episode for what we're going to see this season.
The minute Jessica started talking about the pain her father gave her, I immediately thought about about sexual molestation. That might explain how concerned with her appearance the younger sister was and the mother being as "dumb as a bag of hammers" because she dosen't want to believe what her husband is doing.
