Troublesome Minds Cover

Huh. I thought the novel line was avoiding this period not to conflict with the upcoming film.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I for one am looking forward to a Star Trek: The Original Series novel once the Destiny books wrap up.

I have no idea what this might be about(well, other than Spock) but its a helluva good cover picture.

Yeah, it's pretty sweet cover. I wonder if this could be the last original cast picture cover?

That was the plan for 2008 (made before the film was pushed back), but various TOS-era projects have always been on the 2009 schedule.

I recall there are Captain April and Saavik novels in the work, but they're early 2010...

I'd forgotten about Errand of Fury. I tend not to consider Vanguard as TOS, despite sharing a timeframe; certainly I expect little in the Taurus Reach would be affected by the cinematic reboot, so there's no cause for avoidance there.

Be that as it may, the described plan for 2008 was to avoid the 23rd century as a whole, which would indeed include TOS-era projects like Vanguard.

What if there was a terrible miscommunication "oh my god, they've destroyed the Taurus reach!"

meanwhile over in the Vanguard books "Oh my god, they've destroyed the *other Taurus reach!"

I doubt it. If nothing else, the original cast remains too iconic not to use them some of the time. Plus, Abrams's cast is a little too young to put them on the covers of TOS film-era novels. ;)

Great cover. I'm glad to see a good-old traditional Original Series stand-alone back on the schedule. Although I love all the latest novels and series, I have a certain fondness and a place in my heart for the old stand-alone TOS novels.
