Tropic Thunder vs. How to Lose Friends...

Just a quick question. I have a cinema trip to look forward to with my friend, it's her b-day. She wants to see either Tropic Thunder or How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. I think I'd rather read a book for a couple of hours, but I've dragged her to enough of my crap in the past. So, which one should I see? I despise Ben Stiller comedies but Robert Downey Jr. looks very funny in his fake-black-guy persona. Normally I love Simon Pegg but How to... looks quite mainstream and flat.

I'm tied really. Any suggestions?

It depends on if your friend likes really really really (verbally) raunchy R-rated movies or... Simon Pegg? :) I guess How to Lose Friends has more of a plot and isn't totally out there. While Tropic Thunder is inconsistant, you'll get some really big laughs.

I haven't seen How To Lose Friends so I can't be totally unbiased here, but I really loved Tropic Thunder and would probably recommend that. I wouldn't say its the typical Ben Stiller movie at all. In fact it is quite unique for a comedy and I hadn't seen a film like it before. It really depends on your friend's tastes though.

I haven't seen either but I plan to see Tropic Thunder on DVD and will skip the other one, which sounds pretty lame.
