Trivia advice!

Hello all!
I'm putting together a Jeopardy presentation for my class and one of my categories will be scifi

I wanted a general trivia question that wouldn't be too hard and wanted to poll everyone regarding the question:

Picture of the major starfleet captains from the various TV series/movies:
"Which captain has been demoted in rank during their series"

What answer would you all give? Would you have a better question?

Thanks!

Hello all!

Technically, none. No captain was demoted at all during the run of their series. In fact, with the exception of Sisko being promoted from Commander to Captain, none of them changed their rank during their series.

Kirk, Janeway and Archer were promoted from Captain to Admiral at some point after their series, but your question is clearly supposed to be during.

I suspect the asnswer you're looking for is Kirk, who was demoted from Admiral to Captain in Trek IV. But as a movie, Trek IV is after the series run, not during. And since Kirk is an Admiral at the time, so you can't ask "which captain" if you are referring to him.

Just my $0.02. Yeah, that's right, even I use leading zeroes from time to time.

Thanks for the post:

Actually, I didn't mean for my question to be too rigid.

I guess I can change the question to: Which commanding officer did not start out as captain on their series? - Sisko

Thanks!

What kind of class is this? I hate to say it, but aside from Kirk and possibly Picard, will "kids" even know about Sisko, Janeway or Archer?

You may have to go VERY easy with questions like
"What species is Spock?"
"which spaceship bears the registry NCC-1701?"
"Who says 'resistance is futile'?"
"What is the name of Trek's most popular android"
"Name the first woman Captain in a Trek series?"
"Which alien race values 'honor' and uses a bat'leth?"

Who about....

What is Captain Kirk's middle name?
What is the name of the helmsman in the original Star Trek series?
Which Trek series had a female captain?
Which Trek series was set on a space station?

^^define first woman Captain. Some would say Janeway. Some would sat Garrett from TNG's Yesterday's Enterprise. And there are the few who would say that captain of the Saratoga in Star Trek IV.

"A few?" The captain of the Saratoga is the first female captain seen in all Star Trek. Star Trek never showed any female captains before her.

If only "a few" are saying this, than I guess only "a few" know their Trek.

I wish I'd had a class like this, that's for bloody sure.

Good questions from everybody. It sounds like you definitely don't want to go too complicated on something like this.

She barely appeared in a scene. It's easy for one to miss. From what I have seen in these threads, it appears many of us has forgoteen certain things or elements from the movies and episodes that one hadn't seen in a long while. Not all of us had seen Star Trek IV recently, perhaps not for years. So it is not much of a stretch to think that many fans would fail to remember about the Saratoga captain.

How about....

In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Chain of Command, Part II," by what time does Captain Jellico order a shuttle to be outfitted to operate in the nebula?

Well maybe that's too specific. ;)

For the record, it's 1400 hours.

well, irrespective of the captain of the Saratoga, he said which SERIES had the first female captain and that was actually Tryla Scott of the USS Renegade in TNG season 2. NOT Rachel Garrett of the Enterprise-C.

if you wanted Voyager as the answer, it should be which Star Trek series was the first to STAR a female captain.
