Trick or Treaters

God, did I have a lot of trick or treaters this year. I must have given out about 50 bucks worth of candy. But I love it. I ran out completely by about 8:15 and had to turn the lights out.
Lots of cute little Iron Men, fairy princesses, Marios, Supermen, girls in '50s and '70s get-ups, and one very cool Dad dressed in a very awesome Ghost Rider outfit.

I was out in the city for the later afternoon so I'm not sure how many trick or treaters we ended up getting. I do know how many outrageously sexy outfits I saw in NYC, though.

We got 2 sets of kids. One set was about 6 kids and the other 4. And that's it yest the rest of the neighborhood was filled with kids. I guess we got less visitors because we're living at the top of a hill. Fat lazy kids don't wanna climb I guess...(of course when I went out i'd probably not go uphill either...)
I got off work at 8:30 PM. I anticipated that if I went straight home right away I might encounter some Trick-Or-Treaters. I didn't like that idea, so I went elsewhere and paid $11 to watch a boring movie. Watching the movie quietly was preferable over sitting in my house tensely wondering if or when my door might be seiged upon. Additionally, being a cheap miser, I didn't bother to invest in any candy. My attitude regarding this is surprisingly scrooge-like.
We went through 3 large bowls of candy last night, and even had to break into our kids' fruit snacks to extend it a bit. However, if we lived just two streets over, we'd probably get 10 times that many kids! There are a few houses over there that really go all out, and one even has a haunted house that they build in their driveway. That one has a line all night, usually having to wait about 20 minutes.
Too old to Trick-or-Treat, too poor to get candy, no house to give it out at. I did, however, look around to see what people were wearing.
Not many known film/TV stuff, mostly common things like cats.
One place had a stage and crappy music going ,and little kids like three years old, in mummy costumes and waht not, were dacing like no one was watching; it was funny looking.
Saw one kid completely in black -- couldn't see any of him. Black robe and hood, and two glowing circular red eyes.

So glad I didn't bother buying candy. I heard one small group of kids go by; that was it, the entire evening.
What happens after 8pm? Does city hall release real monsters to round up the stragglers?
Last year we had a decent amount of kids -- even a couple carloads from other parts of the city. Last night, not so much, even though t was a weekend. The doorbell rang maybe 5 times. I was hoping for more so I could send my kids' excess candy back out the door.

Aw, when I went out to the mailbox this afternoon, there was a chocolate bar sitting in it. From one of my little neighbors, I assume. Cute.
Better make damn sure that's chocolate.
This was my first halloween spent in a house that isn't a middle of nowhere/private road to get to it kind of deal. So, yeah, last night I got the first trick or treaters in the 11 years since I first moved to the States. It was kinda exciting. The first kid to come was a cute 5-y-o with a werewolf mask. The best costume I saw all night was Master Chief. I wasn't too pissed off by a couple of kids who came as "themselves". Just be yourself, I always say. I was giving away those packages that hold two reese's pieces each, and all kids were extremely pleased with just that one thing and started walking away, but then I'd throw in a couple butterfingers. There were no decorations out front or anything. I guess I'm hooked, I might even check out what the big deal with costumed parties is next year.

I had 3 Two of my friends kids and the land lords 2 yr old.
I only had 2 groups of 3-4 kids that weren't really wearing any costumes at all. I was wearing a mask and accidentally scared the 6 year old little girl from next door. She was wearing a lady bug costume. The last trick or treaters I got knocked on the door at 10 after I had all the lights out. They were 15 or 16 year old girls that looked like hookers. They only got 1 piece of candy.
I was a little upset that we had so few kids. I really decorated the front yard. Oh well. I probably won't even bother next year.

Maybe if you weren't so stingy with the 15 year old hookers, more would have showed up
