Tribute to the token black guy

So true. Whenever I watch a horror movie with a pretty blonde guy and a pretty blonde girl and their firends are a dorky guy, a straightlaced chick and a black guy I automatically know the only ones surviving at the end will be either the blonde chick or blonde guy or both. All others are cannon fodder.

There was one horror movie-- I think it was one of the Friday The 13th sequels-- where the token Black couple didn't even get to hang out with the rest of the cast. They were all supposed to be friends on a camping trip, but all the White people stayed in the house and the Black couple was relegated to the van.

Can you imagine being a black guy in a red shirt on Star Trek? Might as well plead insanity each time the captain wants to take you on an away mission to a planet where the settlers have "mysteriously vanished".

^^^Wasn't there that one episode where there was a black security officer and a cute little female yeoman, and it was the yeoman who bit it? I can honestly say that on my first viewing I didn't see that coming!

Yeah, as a matter of fact I made a thread at the TOS forum about it just a couple weeks ago -- forgot!

Some of the guys weren't token's, but main characters for their film that bit the dust. Would have been nice if they included O.J. dying in two films, and Doakes from "Dexter".

The one who dies in every movie
A refreshing exception being, "Deep Blue Sea".

Well, Samuel L. Jackson certainly wasn't a "token" character, but they sure killed the shit out of him.

Quite possibly the fakest looking CGI scene in a modern big-budget film (except maybe the crash of Air Force One in the movie of the same name), yet still somehow awesome for being completely unexpected. The whole audience jumped and then everyone started cracking up.

I think gblews meant LL Cool J survivin', along with Tom Jane, at the end of Deep Blue Sea.

As for Samuel Jackson, I read somewhere that he was gettin' fed up with the re-writes bein' made in the middle of filmin', and, while his character was originally goin' to survive, Jackson asked for the character to be killed off so he, Jackson, could leave the production.

Pity they didn't have the Dirty Dozen guy. He does all the hard work of blowing up those Nazis only and gets shot just before everyone gets away.

And the "Black" gang member in Friday the 13th 3-D who was killed in the Hay loft? and then later in the movie that was a :wtf: moment for me.
