Tremors

The Tremors film series, for me, has always been a fun one. The fourth movie was very "meh" but overall the other three are good, fun, OTT monster movies and showcase a very interesting biology for the "Graboids/Shriekers/Ass-Blasters."

The first movie is easily a cult classic, the second movie a decent follow up, the third movie, eh, it's more trying to wring more drops out of the rag and the fourth movie is shrug-offable. I believe a fifth movie is in the works for a DTV release. The series? What series? ;)

Oh, Ok, it was mostly crap.

But, overall, this is a fun movie series. What are your thoughts on the Tremors movies?

I loove Tremors one. I liked the fact that it mostly took place duiring the day. We come to know and care about the characters. What I really like is that the humor is derived entirely from the characters. I also like the fact that, while the characters are not too bright due to their upbringing, they always constantly are trying to think their way through the problem. I think the film is a good example to new screenwriters of how to take a formula that is tried, true, and even overdone, and make a good movie out of it.

I liked the second one as well, though my favorite bit comes at the end, when the dude gets impatient as he waits for the explosion to go off.

Only saw the first, but I really liked it.

The scene where the monster breaks into the wrong goddamn rec room is a classic.

There may be a whole lotta shakin' going on over at Universal. Cinemablend had their ears to the ground and picked up on rumblings surrounding a Tremors 5. According to their sources, the next installment will be called Tremors: The Thunder From Down Under and is set, you guessed it, in Australia. It may debut as a Universal Home Entertainment direct-to-DVD title. Seeing as the last three sequels went the same route, that sounds about right. None of this is confirmed, however. And no names in front of or behind the camera have been announced. We would presume the team behind Stampede Entertainment would be involved in some capacity, but there is no hints at a new film on their site.

It gave my sister and I nightmares and we were terrified of walking on the ground for quite some time. It was like playing the lava game, but out of complete and utter fear.

I have the 4 films and the series on DVD, but yeah the quality went down after the second film, 3 wasn't bad but 4 was pretty boring other than the new 'Gruboid' stage of the line. Then the series was seriously hit and miss depending on the episode.

Love the franchise, even the TV series. I thought they had too many "Mixmaster" episodes but I can definitely see why they introduced the concept. There are only so many graboid/shrieker/assblaster catastrophes that can happen on a weekly basis.

I still play the Dirt Dragons game from time to time. I used to be addicted to it.

I'd love to see another sequel but only if it has Micheal Gross in some Gummer-type capacity. As mentioned above, the characters always used intelligent, deductive reasoning skills to solve their various problems which is unique in the horror/monster genre...or in any movies really.

Nothing beats the first movie. Absolutely nothing in the series of films and the TV series beats the first movie, which was sick and hilarious at the same time.

My stepdad and I will sometimes say "we need a plan" because of this movie. The "plan" comes up many times during the course of the first movie.

The quality goes down as you go through the franchise though #4 might be better than #3. The TV series wasn't too great except for probably the best wet T-shirt scene on basic cable.

The first one was really great and one of my favorite films, the second one was good, the 3rd was okay, the 4th was crap.

I haven't seen the series.

Just look at my sig...I LOVE this movie!:techman:

I have watched it many times over and don't find it loses anything....well, for me anyways :)

The second one wasn't too bad, and the 3rd and 4th go downhill, and although I did watch the series and I do own it, it really is very hit or miss as someone stated.

My husband definitely likes that wet t shirt scene as well...a good one for sure!

As far as a 5th, I would probably get it...just hoping it lives up to some of the fun and ridiculousness of the series.

Tremors is one of my favorite movies. (Very Quotable, Monster Movie Classic)

Tremors II: Aftershocks is an okay follow up. (Very Direct to DVD)

Tremors III: Back to Perfection
was pretty bad, but it also has to deal with both main leads from the previous films not appearing.

Tremors IV: The Legend Begins
(Very Very Low Budget, Very Very Direct to DVD) is IMHO better than #3, but it's also quite lacking because Michael Gross isn't even playing Burt in this one.

Tremors: The Series was pretty terrible, a primary reason being they were limited by being on basic cable and having no real budget. I wanted to see a show about Monster Hunters and such traveling the world (Much like what Sanctuary has done) not just whatever "Crazy" happens to be romping around Perfection Valley that week.
Bonus Points for getting Michael Gross, but still, the series was just awful.

If a Tremors V does go forward, I hope they don't make the mistake of trying to shoehorn in some new stage of the "Graboid Life-cycle", because it's pretty much over with.

Regardless of quality, I'd still see it though. I'm just a sucker for Tremors.

I think the Graboid life-cycle is pretty much complete, if odd. The Graboids (undergound giant worms) eventualy die and 3-6 "Shriekers" erupt from their bodies (land-based heat-seeking predators) the Shriekers then go into a coccon stage and come out as the "Ass-Blasters" which are flight-based Shriekers and then the Ass-Blasters eventualy lay the Graboid Eggs. All of this has been "seen" and I'm not sure there's any decent room for another stage in the life cycle.

(They also all seem to reproduce simply by eating and not by any transfer of genetic material. So they're completely asexual. and are sort of like evil Tribbles.)
