Tremors: The series with Kevin Bacon

Wait there is a tremors 5 !?

A quick googling shows that there is even a Tremors 6! Due out May 1.

Unfortunately the preview makes it look like the standard "let's make one of those stupid movie" type movies. Very hard to capture the magic of the original where it looked like someone actually cared to try.

I'm not to surprised Tremors didn't get picked up, I figured it was a long shot.

I'm pretty surprised, actually. TV series and movie series revivals are all the rage right now. And Kevin Bacon's still a recognizable "name" actor. The only recent revival I can think of that was aborted after being in active development (i.e. actual filming already took place) is NBC's failed Coach pilot. This leads me to believe that the Tremors pilot was really, really bad.

It's a bummer either way. The movies had less and less appeal as they went on, so I was looking forward to someone else's take on it. And the pilot was directed by Vincenzo Natali, who I quite like. :(

Well here's what the show would've looked like.

It looks far better than any of the sequels in terms of quality, but I just can't see how this could have possibly been sustainable as a series beyond four to six episodes. Might have made for a fun miniseries, though.

^ yeah, I've been thinking this might've been better off as a DTV movie. It's not like there haven't been sequels that have ignored the previous ones (Halloween, the upcoming Terminator, etc.) but it is odd not having Michael Gross given he's been in all the others including the previous series.

Yeah, I had to same thought. There would have to be a lot more to it than just a Graboid attack for it to be sustainable for more than a handfull of episodes.

Friday Night Lights... and then a Predator shows up.

Just rewatched the first two movies this weekend. Still hold up pretty well. Didn't really like the third movie when I saw it years ago and never watched the fourth. No interest whatsoever in watching the subsequent three movies after that.

I really would like to see them end the franchise with one final movie that brings back all the characters and brings closure to them, sort of like Picard. Reunite Val and Earl rather than make it a pure Val vehicle like Kevin Bacon's reboot. They'd have to recast Rhonda, though, given Finn Carter's bad aging and legal problems. Obviously Burt returns. Just ignore movies 5 through 7 as non-canon. Might be possible to lure Reba back if she wasn't playing a survivalist anymore. Maybe Heather made it big as a country star after leaving Burt. Chris Gartin and Helen Shaver are still acting and they could bring back Ron Underwood to direct. Bobby Jacoby already reprised Melvin in the series, so he'd probably be interested. Don't know it if anyone could get Ariana Richards to come out of retirement. Maybe set it at Grady's Monster World theme park. This time, it's personal as the Graboids converge on the group that caused them so much death and sorrow. Return to the classic Graboid design rather than the CGI ones. Let the franchise end with a bang.

“The door is still open for an eighth Tremors. It may seem unlikely by what people see on the screen, but it is possible. There could be an eighth. And if there were, and if it were an interesting story, I would be up for it because Burt is always a great deal of fun. It would depend on his physicality. How much they want me to do. If it’s in another two years, I’ll be 75 years old. So I will continue to hope and pray that I stay in shape, to do what is asked of me – if it is asked of me.”
They never actually showed Burt's dead body. There are numerous instances of characters seemingly coming back from the dead, for instance Harry Hart supposedly killed in the first Kingsman movie but revealed as alive in the second.

It was just the way it was shot. I got the impression this was supposed to be his last hurrah.
Like many, I was expecting a post credit scene revealing he was alive but there was none.

I thought the fourth one was pretty good. It really had the whole "town of unlikely heroes coming together to save their home" vibe that Tremors can sometimes do well.
