TrekXI Enterprise - Version 5

Hey, everybody. It's been a while since I posted anything...

When TobiasRichter released images of his finalized Enterprise model last week, I decided I should finally go on and accurize mine as much as possible. I re-textured the whole thing, built new engines, built a new shuttlbay, and added detailing here and there. It's not anywhere near as good as his, though. :)

Big images follow...

Looks great! And if I can say so, your lighting has improved INCREDIBLY since you started modeling this ship way back when.

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. :) Now that this is out of my system, I can get back to my Klingon ship. :)

I also commend your vastly-improved lighting technique. :techman:

I'm sure there are many other forum members much more familiar with the new Enterprise than I, but other than some super nitpicky minor details here and there this looks marvelously accurate. (In fact, the only thing that really jumps out at me is that the background planet's atmosphere seems too thick.)

I think what's really important here is that (in addition to the better lighting) you've managed to pick some really nice angles to show off this leviathan--the new Enterprise definitely has some viewing aspects that look better than others. Well done!

Have you modeled what she looks like going to warp, with the wing things on the nacelles splitting?

Thanks! :)

Yeah, I always go overboard with the atmospheric glow. I agree about the angles, though; from the side, or top, it looks awkward, and sometimes even ugly. From the front 3/4 kind of view, and the back, it looks great. :)

I haven't, only because I couldn't figure out a way to do it easily, with the way I built the fins into the Nacelles. I'll figure it out if I end up doing an animation, though.

^ agree with Captain Robert April! Well said! Caricature is the perfect word to desciribe that abomination! MadMan's work is great however.
