TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier mini

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

Awesome, thanks for posting this. The art is mostly good, although I'm not keen on the faces. We'll see how it goes. Too bad there are no speech bubbles.

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

the pic of the ship Paradox looks almost exactly like one of the rejected sketches for the USS Defiant used in Deep Space Nine, with the raised nacells and the pronged front portion. If anyone's got the pictures, i'm sure it'd be easy to confirm.

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

i just found it, but dont know how to post it here.

if you go to google images and enter - USS Valiant concept art

then you'll see the ship, she's a beaut i'll admit that, if there was a ship out there that I could choose from, it'd probably be this one, providing it had a holodeck, haha

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

Didn't somebody post this here a couple weeks ago?

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

what, umm, URL?? is that supposed to mean something (umm, yeah i'm computer savvy, ha)

on the plus side, i've been waiting for admiral jellico to go crazy and to get committed, i think we can all appreciate that.

Well, apart from the fact that I know Stephen didn't design the ship based on any other pre-existing design...is it just me, or do the pictures of the two ships not actually look anything alike? I mean, the Paradox doesn't even have a fuselage. The nacelles are totally different, how the nacelles attach are totally different... am I just missing something here?

I mean, if it DID look quite similar, I wouldn't much care--there's only so many ways to make a starship look and still have it look like a ship from Trek. But as for the comparison, I just don't see it.

Someone posted this link at Psi Phi. I hope nobody minds that I copy it here. It shows the quad covers of issue #1:

Unfortunately I get a "forbidden" message when I try to get the larger version. The pictures are small but I can say I like Kebron and the ghostly Si Cwan. Lefler I am not sure, Jellico looks all right and I will have to find out who some of the other people are.

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

I'm a little disappointed that PAD seems to be going with the "Si Cwan as a ghost" direction. I realize that Kalinda has the power to speak to the dead and all that, but I was hoping that Cwan would "move on" so to speak, as to truly leave Robin and Kalinda alone with the task of running the New Thallonian Protectorate. Having Cwan's ghost there, presumably advising Kalinda, seems like a crutch for her and Robin, keeping them from truly coming into their own as leaders, and keeping them from moving on. Of course, I will reserve final judgment until I read the finished product.

Quite likely the whole point of the scene depicted...

Why jump even further ahead already? PAD jumped the novels' storyline foward three years precisely so he could explore the future but still have some unknown recent facts, unknown to us, up his sleeves.

Wow, this looks really great. I'm really digging IDW's take on Trek and now it's part of my regular pull list.

Cool...

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

Will NF fans have to read the comics before #17?

Thanks for posting that link. Unfortunately, I get a forbidden message as well.

Interesting covers. I'm guessing that's Burgoyne with Zak, Soleta with Si Cwan, and McHenry with Jellico. If that's true, I don't like their depictions at all. Only Zak really stands out for me (so to speak). But I'll wait until we see them in action.

I'd say so, yes. Hair looks right.

McHenry with Jellico.

No, it's a male Vulcan with Jellico! IIR the internal art preview correctly, a member of the Paradox crew.

Google found me this!

No bigger versions, but a good description. Also includes the cover with PAD in the captain's chair, and some commentary by Ryall about this "second incentive cover, also by Stephen, showing a certain Starship Captain David surrounded by a couple of Captains (ie. Kirk and Picard) and watched over by his guardian Angel, too."

Baerbel, looks like that one is indeed an incentive cover you'll need to order separately!

Re: TrekWeb has a sneek peek of the Star Trek New Frontier m

Oh, good call. I didn't see the pointy ears. Hopefully you're right because that person looks nothing like McHnery.

Here you go, original source (though I still cant get the images to click to the bigger versions...): link
Chris Ryall's blog also has the Peter David as Captain cover up.

Ah, Therin beat me to it..

I told my subscription service that I would like all NF comics, whatever version, they can get their hands on :)
