Trek's Most Embarassing Moments

Trip. All of him. Every episode he was in. Even his death (which I waited four years for) was embarrasing.

And the fact that they've got faith of the heart.

Most Embarassing Trek Moments, when Tom made B'Lanna listen to him say those stupid rimes in the racing episode, what was one of them, something about plasma conduits, or something....and the time seven of nine was a ferengi, and said something like "What a large view screen, i will buy it off of you" the first time we see seven smile like that....Seven and that big smile was bad enough.

Oh, and the DS9 MU episodes. Its only OK to show homosexuality on Star Trek if its done in the context of an "evil" mirror universe?

Say wha-...huh? :wtf::wtf::wtf:

He's right, ya know. The only time there was even a hint of same-gender anything, it was in the MU. And don't give me any of that "well Dax kissed a girl" nonsense .. Jadzia didn't, it was her slug, not the host.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with that as well. For this reason....

That doesn't look like two Trill Symbionts kissing. That looks like two Trill Hosts kissing.

IMO, Rejoined was an excellent portrayal of homosexuality on Trek. It shows that it is accepted by all the other characters. Not only is it accepted, nobody even blinks at the fact that these are two women. By making it a non-issue, the producers made it clear that homosexuality is accepted.

I'd have to call bullshit on that. The only homosexual scenes on star trek always involved two women, and for the same reason they threw in Seven of Asinine, ie, to appeal to sex deprived 17 year old geeks.

Garak was supposed to be bisexual, though the actor and character wasn't really allowed to explore it, so the best he could do was to be ambiguous, until the producers decided to throw in Ziyal..

At this point if they were to add homosexual characters to star trek, it would probably involve an all-gay colony of sorts since theyve done such a good job of avoiding the subject for so long.

Wow! I did not intend to derail this thread. But since we are on the subject: Remember that hedonistic planet were Wesely gets sentenced to death or something?
Riker: They make love at the drop of a hat
Yar: Any hat.
So, there is implied bisexuality but it isn't really shown.

But then there was the episode where Beverly is in a relationship with the Trill but once it is in a female host Beverly isn't interested anymore.

I guess my point was that although there may have been some implied non-heterosexual romance in Trek, it was never as blatant as heterosexuality. How many times have we seen characters (especially Riker) flirt, get romantic, then passionate kissing starts and they go to (or are in) a bedroom, then cut scene.

I'm just saying we never see this kinda stuff between characters of the same sex, out side of the MU. Homosexuality is blatant and in your face in DS9's MU, but in the normal universe, if it is suggested to be happening, is usually not shown. It is as if 20th century social stigmas against homosexuality still exist in the 24th century, going against Trek's premise.

In The Offspring, where Guinan explains love to Data's daughter, the script called for Guinan to say "When a man loves a woman"....Whoopi outright refused to say that line and had it changed to "When two people love eachother". It was also intended to have a same sex couple holding hands in the background, though a higher up caught on and changed it at the last second.

Some people say it was Rick Berman who kept homosexuals off star trek, others say Rick Berman took the rap for Gene Rodenberry. We'll never really know though.

Anytime Star Trek pretends to be a musical is an embarrassing moment.

Troi's entire role in TNG's pilot. Her role in the show in general was pretty embarrassing, but they at least they toned it down a little after that.

The DS9 crew playing hopscotch.

Seven of Nine.

All of Enterprise.

"Mister Worf, do you know Gilber & Sullivan?"
