TrekMovie article on Models - 1:350 TOS E

That 1:350 TOS Enterprise is going to be great!

Still, I'm pretty sure that it is going to miss the mark on being the model I've been wanting my whole life...

But at least now I have plans (literally) for making that model in the future. :D

Bout damned time.

In other news that sound you just heard was Forbin peeing himself with joy.

I was at my local model railroad hobby shop today (to drop off two pairs of dress shoes to be repaired), and I checked with the owner. He plans to carry the AMT Enterprise rerelease, and will be setting aside one for me.

Unfortunately, he'll have my shoes fixed before it's released.

Alright, Maestro, I'll bite: why take your shoes to the hobby shop?

Cause a good cobbler is hard to find these days and the model RR industry isnt exactly where it was 20, 30, 40 years ago so maybe the owner diversified?

I don't know whether the guy started as a shoe repairman or a hobbyshop owner, but the place does both...

Shoe Repair, Model Railroad, Models, R/C Racing Equipment, etc.

The owner was pretty gruff about the economy... complained that model paints have doubled since January, and since plastics use oil in their composition, a lot of the model railroad and regular model items have gone up in price too.

At least my dress shoes will be almost brand spankin' new in a week.

When I read the news on the 1/350th. scale TOS E finallywill be making it's way to the retail sector, I'm pretty sure I dribbled. I've been waiting for this a long time, probably since I first heard about the 1/350th. TMP Refit E. I wonder who's going to do the prototype? Mr.Sasser? He did a wonderful job on the Refit and the 1/1000 scale TOS E. Mr. Sasser was already working on his own 1/350th. TOS E garage kit that was first going to be fiberglass and then transitioned to vacuum form. There hasn't been any word on his "garage" efforts in some time... One has to wonder if the work done to date out of "love" suddenly became a "contract gig"? Either way, I don't care because Mr. Sasser's attention to accuracy and detail far exceeds my wildest dreams. I think it's safe to say that I'm in the "I'll pre-order three kits right now" camp. Let's just hope that the Chineese molders don't devate from the prototype too much.

One very happy Q2UnME
