Yes, indeed, lots of (lucky) behind the scenes people are Star Trek fans. Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens have always been huge fans of the franchise, as well. Especially The Classic Series, I believe. Of course, they've collaborated with Shatner, alot and were very busy writing for ENT.
