Trekkers and Trekkies Unite!

I believe it is time for us Trekkers and Trekkies on the internet to come together online and hold an English speaking international Star Trek holiday, episodes, movies, dressing up and hanging out with Klingons! Put out the word that we want to create an internet geek/nerd Star Trek holiday. Announce it across various forums where you hang out, email your Trek friends and let us decide a day for this, who is with me? Who wants an internet holiday for Star Trek?!:klingon:

We already have such a holiday: May 5th is Cinco de Sombrero! Everyone wears sombreros and meets on the Blue Nacelles thread.:techman::bolian:

I don't think I can support this until we decide if the proper term is "Trekkers," or "Trekkies."

This will be decided when the Space Pope declares the Church of Trek to be a heretic religion. Shortly thereafter the great Star Trek Wars will be fought over whether 23rd or 24th century Trek was better.
I shall join the 23rd century side ensuring our victory.:rommie:
Star Trek fan or Trek fan has always been sufficient for me.

If we had to we could use the term Trekker than but I don't see why we have to.
So what dates could we use?
Roddenberry's birthday?
The day Roddenberry conceived of the wagon train to the stars?
The day Star Trek first aired?
The day The Motion Picture premiered in theaters?
(Or the 5th of May? Cinco de Mayo)

I've always thought of Trekkers as Trekkies without a sense of humour. It just sounds really sad if you tell someone, "No, no, I'm a Trekker, Trekkies are the real geeks." All the Not Wes call fans Trekkies anyway, and what does it matter? I'm a Trekkie and proud of it :techman:

To be a trekkie, or not to be a trekkie.
That is the question.
Maybe somebody ought to do a poll.

Agreed, I think a poll would be great idea!

For the record I've always considered myself a Trekkie, maybe because that's the first term I heard for those who were, well, Trekkies:lol:
