Trekbbs karaoke...

An Officer

Let's have our very first Saturday night MISC party!

Pretend you're able to carry a tune... what would you sing? What would your dance moves be?

I would start us off with:

Dancing Queen - bringing out my favourite sequined pink hotpants for the occasion... the house-hold pets would scatter as I hit unbearable pitches... I would finish by blowing enormous kissed to my astonished fans...

Philo would probably sing Boys of summer - And he'd do a very good job. :D

Who's next? :techman:

It would have to be Don't Stop Believing and I'd have to have a beer in my hand.

So, in other words, exactly like every other Saturday night for me.

Assuming I'm pretty drunk, I've been know to do

Superstition
Livin on a prayer
Foxy Lady
Midnight Rider

There's more, but those are what I feel like at the moment.

Edited to add, for special occasions, Glory Days.

Nothing in this world beats being from Jersey and reminiscing. Yes, it really is all Bon Jovi and Bruce.

I LOVE karaoke!
I'll sing something by Journey. They're an ideal karaoke band for me because I have the same range as the lead singer, and because they are the perfect kind of camp.

I'd also intend to sing the greates karaoke duet of all time, Human League's "Don't You Want Me," but I'll need the right man to sing along...

With Audacity and an accompaniment track and a microphone we could actually make TrekBBS karaoke to happen ;)

I've been known to rock Journey's 'Separate Ways' complete with grossly exaggerated facial expressions, bad white guy dancing, air instruments, and wild gesticulating (mostly punching in the direction of the ground for its insolence). If you're not willing to go the extra mile with your set, just get off the stage and let the real faux professionals do their stuff.

Other favorites of mine are 'The Joker' by Steve Miller Band (yes, I wolf whistle after "some people call me Maurice") and my favorite Elvis song, 'Suspicious Minds'. If you do Elvis and you don't look like you're performing at a bizarre drug-fueled kung-fu church revival, you're not doing it right.

I know it doesn't even slightly resemble it, but when I first read this thread's title, I thought it said, "Trekbbs bakesale". To which I thought, "that's awesome!"

Okay, yeah...karaoke! Um, even though I was a quite the little singer prodigy in my youth, I've yet to have the nerve to actually do any karaoke. There was one time when my friend and I decided, "yes, we're going to do this!", and signed onto the list to do Billie Jean, but the damn bar closed before we could. Some day!

Well, I used to do quite a good version of Bridge Over Troubled Waters. This was before my voice changed, however. I also sang Ave Maria (the Schubert) a capella at a Christmas Mass once, but it made every single baby in the place cry. :techman:

*raises his hand in a way that makes it seem like he doesn't really want to be picked, but in fact actually really does*

Is it really sad that I was actually listening to that earlier today? In my defense, I did say I had been listening to cheesy 80's music in that other thread. :D

Well, if I could sing and didn't have stage fright, I'd probably go for something like "The 59th Street Bridge Song," or "Sister Golden Hair," or "Chevy Van," or an acoustic version of "Thunder Road."

Or if I was in a more bombastic mood, I might go for a non-acoustic version of "Thunder Road," or "Born To Run," or "Feel Like Makin' Love," or something totally over the top like "Can't Fight This Feeling."

"And if I have to craw across the floor, come crashing through the door...." :D

We have had countless voicethreads over the years :D

I can never chose which song I want to sing..

Inspired idea, Danoz!

Aurian, I adore your voice! Why don't you post a list of what you're considering? Then you can hear some feedback about which might be more popular with us... :D
