This board has changed so much over the last few years that I've been here.

It's amazing. Anyone else remember when we used to close threads at 100 posts? Now we reach that limit in no time at all!

I remember when we used to close threads at 1000 posts. Those were the days...

Whatever changes have occurred while I've been here, they haven't really been negative so I tend not to take too much notice. Every now and then I'll think of a poster or two that I haven't seen in awhile, but that's about it.

Pft, in my day, threads were closed at 10 posts, or else the whole server crashed! And the moderators couldn't do it with any fancy buttons, no sir, they had to do it by hand! And we had to walk uphill in the snow just to post a reply, as the whole board was run via telegraph!

We have it good, now, let me tell you.

The biggest thing that's changed for me is that in my initial years I knew 75% of the people who posted well enough to know their personalities... now I know about 5 people out of 1,000 or so. There's so many names now...

yeah, I remember the 100 post thing. there's no limit now? isn't it a 1000 post limit? I remember quite a few posts in the ENT forum that got closed once it reached that.

Pre-vB it was a 1,000 post limit because that's all the system could handle. There's no physical limit now, but the 1,000 post limit stays "at moderator discretion"

(and thank goodness for that! Can you imagine some of the threads in Trek XI if they had to be closed and re-started every 1,000 posts? )

Since we've been on vB there's been no limit. The old board had a limit because the server and software was... "special."

The trek forums have been so quiet for so long, it's a miracle if any thread at all reaches 100 posts!

Well, the gray buttons for one, but for two:

The header is gray, the old TrekBBS logo is missing, and there are avatars in the profiles now (although I don't mind that).
