TrekBBS Dream Journal...

I had a few weird dreams on Saturday night/early Sunday but don't recall the details.

  • I was inside a house with vampires, werewolves, other scary creatures that I woke up almost screaming in terror with my heart pounding.
  • I dreamt that I was with a group of people who went into some indoor amusement park or museum. I saw some of my co-workers in there, and for some reason, they were examining my abdomen. There was some "tunnel ride" wherein people who went in came out aged or older, and someone suggested that I myself go in so that I could "experience the future," but I worried about getting older in the process.
  • The third dream involved family members. In that dream my 22-year-old nephew was evil, and he was trying to chase or run over my 5-year-old nephew. So I called all the other nephews and nieces inside to be safe, and we were on the lookout for my sisters (their moms) who might be acting weird, too.
  • I also dreamt going to a familiar place in the town I once lived in. Such place doesn't exist in real life, but in my dream it looked familiar and I had been there before. It was some kind of a recreation park where people went in to shop or take a stroll. There were Walgreens and some other stores within the park, and I also remembered seeing lions (male and female) that people had on leashes like pets. One of the lions got agitated, and people scurried away for safety, but the other lions seemed to be friendly.

I had this weird dream where I woke up, went to school as usual, but just as I was sitting down it time-lapsed into lunch, but the cafeteria was in slow motion and full of lens flares. Then I time-lapsed to the bus stop, which was grayscale and in slow motion. Then I woke up.

I had a strange dream.

I opened a new box of cornflakes. Inside was a little foil pack with cards that could be collected. Having not seen these in my cornflakes for many years I decided to open it up to see what sort of cards today's children are collecting.

There were five cards inside. To my horror it was a five step guide of how to trap and cook elephants.

I had an incredibly disturbing dream the other night. In my dream, there was a beloved Muppet character who was handcuffed to a person. The Muppet ended up getting dragged along the ground so that its felt skin tore, but it would bleed as though it was alive. It ended up up getting fairly beat up until the Muppet's arm detached from its body, allowing it to slip out of the handcuffs.

There's no doubt as to where the image of that character appeared in my subconscious, since an acquaintance I despise uses an image of that character as his online avatar on a bunch of different sites.

I had this bizarre dream last night, bordering on scary.

I was back in another country, and I was attending a class at my old high school. I saw some of my former classmates who looked familiar, but they were all adults like me. The classroom was cramped, with a few rows of tiny desk chairs, and I found it hard to sit down.

Then suddenly, a group of armed men--like a militia group--had taken over the place. They threatened to shoot everyone inside if we didn't cooperate with them. One of them even called my name and asked me to stop talking. The men took my classmates away in a military vehicle, leaving only me and guess who--Gollum from Lord of the Rings. :wtf: I didn't trust Gollum and didn't like the idea of being left alone with him, so I cut him in three with a sword, and I then fled the place, hoping to get away before the others came back.

My perspective changed at some point, and now it seemed I was also watching a TV show or movie. I (or my character) had to get to my hometown and tell my dad what was going on. It seemed that the militia had taken over the government, and they had people I knew (neighbors, relatives) working for them. I recall traveling in a rural area and thought I could transform into a dolphin and swim in the creeks along the road  so that I could get home faster. When one of the militants came back for me, I was already gone.

Now one of the government people was on the phone with my dad, wanting to meet with him. I knew this was just a ruse to get some information from my dad, who was working secretly with a rebel alliance of some sort that was opposed to the government. "Okay, I'll send someone right away," he replied. Our house looked like it had an underground tunnel with a garage inside, with a watery, unpaved surface, and out came a horse-drawn carriage. Weird.

Last night I dreamed that there was a war between 2 Lilliputian factions and they were using robots as the main weapons. One big robot champion powered itself down to recharge or something and the opposing faction tried to enter it to reprogram it. The leader of the reprogramming team was the blonde from Big Bang Theory. It was an interesting dream, and starting to get exciting (I'm such a geek), but I had to wake up to go to work.

I had this strange dream last night I bought my a former HS friend's house...it was strange...and his house is only 1 story but it also had a second story room. At first I was in his bedroom with a woman and we were rolling around on the bed...by the way all the stuff in the house was new...none of his or his families stuff was in it...we were rolling around on the bed half dressed and then I get up to go to the kitchen and I get 2 glasses of water and I notice a brown grocery bag on the table is moving so I look inside and it is a black kitten much like my cat...in fact I seemed to think it was my cat when he was a kitten...anyway I take the kitten upstairs to that room that shouldn't be there and have a hard time getting him to stay there...he ends up escaping and gets into something and is now covered in stuff...like guacamole...I am chasing him around this house and I catch him and then begin cleaning him off...I hear the woman in my friends bedroom yell asking if I am coming back to bed...I seem to have waken up after that.

Lately my dreams have been family- or work-related.

In one dream I was living in my family's old house in another country. When I looked at the clock, it appeared to be 7:30 a.m., and I feared I was going to be late for work because my alarm didn't go off. So there I was, getting ready to have a quick breakfast and take a shower while it was still dark. Some time had passed and it was now 7 a.m.! :wtf: It appeared that the clock had "lied" or looked like it was 7:30 a.m. when it was actually 6:30 a.m.

This dream probably reflects some anxiety on my part about getting to work on time. Although I usually get in the office by 8 a.m., the traffic has been horribly slow lately, adding an extra 10 to 15 minutes to my commute.

I had a couple of weird dreams last night.

One involved two friends (Eric and Artie, they were brothers) whom I grew up with in another country. Apparently, I was back in the old country again for a vacation or something, and the two of them had invited me over to my neighbors' house. Although it wasn't my friends' house, their cousins lived next door to me, and the dream was quite realistic in that regard. I felt really uncomfortable being in someone else's house, but there was some kind of an occasion, with lots of people I didn't recognize. In fact, the only person who lived there that I recognized was my neighbor Lito, who looked older and was drinking with his friends.

The other dream was a little bit scary. I was with the Winchester brothers from Supernatural. :techman: But the scary part was that we were going down a basement to fight some demonic entities, and we were really careful. There were some organs in a container, and I wasn't sure if they were human, and one of us was supposed to squeeze the juice out in order to proceed further. :wtf: Anyway, that was a bit graphic for me, and I don't remember what happened afterwards.

Last night, I dreamed I was a butterfly. In this dream, I was fluttering toward my little 4 y.o. niece (she's the one who loves "Carl Sager"). It was nighttime, and she was standing in her front yard looking up at the stars. As I fluttered closer, she saw me and she said, "a beautiful butterfly!" and I landed on her outstretched hand. She stroked my wings and looking right at me, surprised, said "Uncle Johnnyboy, you're a butterfly!", and she giggled, asking me "why are you a butterfly?" I replied, "I am here to protect you. I can go where you go. I will keep you safe." She replied, "I love you, Uncle Johnnyboy", and then I woke out of my dream.

Here's an odd one. In my dream, I was on board the space shuttle Endeavour and getting ready for launch. I knew which shuttle it was because there was a really nice wood carving on the wall which had the name "Endeavour" and an image of the old sailing ship that the shuttle was named after. I strapped myself in, but I noticed that there were some loose items at my feet, including a few shopping bags. I tried to tell the others around me that these items need to be stowed or else they'd be floating all over the place in space, but no one listened to me.

Then when the shuttle launched, I noticed that its take off was horizontal, like an airplane going down a runway. It didn't make sense because I knew the shuttle launched vertically. I tried to point this out to the others in the crew cabin, but no one really seemed to listen.

I sometimes have dreams when I get "anxious" about the small stuff like that.

Last night I had a weird, yet awesome dream. I dreamt my family and I lived in this neighborhood in Alameda, CA, with the nice Victorian homes and large houses. So my 5-year-old nephew and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. We looked at one of the vacant homes, and in my dream we had lived there temporarily before. The front lawn had Christmas decorations, and the lawn resembled a little playground that was either city property or the homeowners'. We watched as little "elves" came out from one of the tiny houses one by one, and they each carried presents to give away to children. At this point, I was with an older kid, and I don't remember if he was my little nephew. I lost him as we went into the tiny house, and I met two older gentlemen who warned me that there were vampires in the area!

My perspective changed. I was in some kind of a Filipino soap opera play, and I wore 19th century American clothes. :wtf: The theme was still about vampires, and in the play, I portrayed a gentleman who was accused of being a vampire. I knew it was all a stage performance because my old classmates from grade school were in the same play doing different roles, and it was all impromptu. One of them confronted me with a clove of garlic, and I pretended to sneeze and be allergic; thus they thought I was a vampire.

Later on, I walked home and thought about the continuation of the play. I was somewhat responsible for doing the writing, direction, and some performance although I've never done theater work in real life. There was a small group of classmates/friends (most of them are Facebook contacts) whom I worked with to write the next act and the ending. There were two vampires that we had to deal with--one was a "lieutenant" vampire named Daemon, and the other was the "boss" vampire named Verdugo ("executioner" in Spanish). As we wrote the script, I thought about luring the lieutenant and using someone as a bait so that he (Daemon) could lead us to their leader, Count Verdugo (who had no resemblance to the DC comic villain, Count Vertigo). Then we would finish them off. Also, I would turn out to be some kind of a vampire slayer, much like Buffy. :D

The dream then transitioned to a different theme although the setting (time/place) was the same. This time, my family and I were living in one of the Victorian homes in Alameda. There was some kind of battle between two forces; I don't remember much except I was with the good guys. The opponents wore some kind of a space suit similar to Master Chief (though I've never played HALO), except it was white. The enemies had the ability to be invisible and phase-shift, and we had to use special particle rifles to shoot them. One of the villains was played by Cameron Diaz.

That whole dream was quite sublime.

EDIT: The word I was looking for was "surreal."

An unusual dream for me last night.

I dreamed that I was in bed but couldn't sleep, which I remember having once before.

Also in this dream, Jesus appeared to me and said some things.

In the morning, I wondered why I didn't feel tired since I thought I'd been awake most of the night.

Then I remembered that I was only dreaming about not sleeping, and that I had actually had a good nights sleep.

Then I spent a few minutes contemplating how efficient that could actually be ~ to benefit from being asleep, but also being relaxed and focused enough in one's dream to be able to think about things and able to carry those thoughts out of the dream.

Last night I dreamed I was Superman, but no one believed me and I was really uncertain of myself. Firstly, I couldn't find my costume -- I found a crocheted Spider-Man costume instead. (Though eventually, the correct costume appeared.) Secondly, there was all this time-warp stuff going on that'd probably be too dull to share here, but which resulted in there being a Past Superman (a little boy), a Near Future Superman, and a Far Future Superman (old man) all running around at the same time as me. Finally, I was having trouble believing it myself: I dared a villain to shoot me, knowing the bullets would bounce off, but secretly I was afraid they wouldn't, and every time I flew I thought I wouldn't be able to do it, even though every time it ended up that I could.

Along with the time warping there was massive, worldwide seismic activity toppling cities and killing millions. Future Superman bailed and everyone else had massive memory gaps because of the time warp so rescue was difficult. I did, however, save a toddler from a child molester.

SO, analysts, what does all that mean?!

I think it means that you have ambition, but you feel that others doubt your ability to achieve. And sometimes you're inclined to believe them, instead of believing in yourself.

It may also mean that you feel you have to prove yourself to others.

Underlying that story it could be that you're judging yourself too much through other's perceptions of you.

On one hand this shows selflessness as you want to please other people and help them see what is true/false. But on the other hand, it could make you vulnerable to emotional abuse.

I had a rather stressful dream last night, and it's not often I feel stress, so it was unusual for me. As I woke up early too, I had time to think about the dream, and realise that it was obviously drawing upon events happening in Japan.

A nuclear power plant was going to be built, but my house was right in the middle of the proposed site and was to be demolished.

I was given very little warning: A man riding on a horse came to my home and told me that a bus had been arranged for me to leave on, and whatever of my stuff I wanted to save I had to put onto the bus within the next 5 minutes.

I looked out of my window and saw a long line of vicious looking people marching towards my house. They all had black PVC masks on. They were the demolition people: Unfeeling and relentless in their work.

So I began to panic. Where on earth would the bus take me? What am I able to save in five minutes? What can I carry?

I felt encumbered by the sheer mass of things that I was desperate to save.

Eventually the people arrived and stormed into my house. Being face to face and at eye level with them there was a surprising feeling of calm. I was massively outnumbered, yet at that moment I did not fear them. The dream replayed that final scene from a few different perspectives, and gradually faded out.

Last night, I dreamed I was a butterfly.
And today, are you a butterfly dreaming you’re a man? :)

Just before I woke up this morning, I dreamt that I was wandering around a commercial plaza surrounded by modern office towers. I sat down at what appeared to be a picnic table. A gentleman who may have been Greek or Armenian, who was apparently the patriarch of a large immigrant family, sat down across the table from me and started asking me questions about recipes, planning weddings, and other stuff I know absolutely nothing about. I politely excused myself and walked to another part of the plaza where a photo shoot was in progress. There were naked male and female models, out there in full public view, and some of the photographers were naked as well! I climbed to the top of some stairs to make sure I wasn’t getting in the photographers’ way, and a very large tiger approached me. I assumed it was part of the shoot. The animal’s handler appeared and called the big cat, and it followed him. I felt relieved, since even though the tiger seemed tame, wild animals can be unpredictable.

That’s when I woke up. Wish I’d had a chance to meet one of those naked female models.

My dreams lately have been brief and sketchy, and I can recall only a few details. This week I used a CPAP machine for the first time, so that might have affected my sleep quality.
