I've seen all of these films.
Pulp Fiction is a fun movie, great ride, and I love both Samuel L. Jackson & John Travolta. All of their scenes are electric.
Quiz Show was a solid movie, but not Oscar worthy in my opinion.
Four Weddings & A Funeral? Please.
Forrest Gump was a good movie, in my opinion (the soundtrack was solid), and I would have said earned the Oscar except for one other movie:
The Shawshank Redemption. What a fantastic piece of story telling from beginning to end. It's a sin against film making that the film didn't even get a nod in the Oscar department.

Another vote for Shawshank. One film that was more of a success with DVD than when it was shown at the movies.

It's a bit unfortunate that Pulp Fiction ended up in the same year as Shawshank as there are a couple of other years in the 90s when it would have walked all over any of the films which were nominated. But it's still gotta be Shawshank for me here.

Shawshank Redemption.

Forrest Gump and Quiz Show are great films, as well, but I think Shawshank is a somewhat more skillfully crafted film.

Absolutely outstanding year for the candidates.

however, Shawshank is the clear "hindsight Best Picture". This is a movie that's become so beloved in later years, is consistently ranked as one of the most favorite movies ever by so many people, myself included, it truly is one of those iconic films that becomes better with age. Isn't that the real point of Best Picture?
