Trek XI Teaser Poster

Like everyone else, I think it'll be fabulous if they stick with this design. The pylons are my one nit pick too. Overall though, I'm thrilled.

Is that for real?! I assume as it's Vektor posting it, that it is...if not, fantastic design still! :bolian:

Uh...uhm...did I sleep 3 months last night? No...no..not April 1st. OK Veky boy, at least there's no gun turrets this time :D.

That's what crossed my mind as well. After all, Vector (meaning no ill will, of course) has "zinged" us before.

Regardless, I like it.

Sincerely,

Bill

Let me echo everyone's sentiments in hoping that this is indeed the real Enterprise from Star Trek. If so, it is exactly what I'd hoped it would be.

The markings on the saucer are definitely from the 'Where no man has gone before' era or thereabouts. Notice the black curving bars on the sides and the short black bar in the front.

Are the nacelles swept back or is that just perspective? Personally I always felt the refit nacelle struts looked a lot more awkward and fragile than the straight TOS ones.

In the words of the Duke, "Generally, I like it."

At first blush, I think they've contoured back the nacelle arms in a nod to engineering. I'd rather they hadn't. I just hope it's perspective. I think they've kept the TOS design.

Is this Chris Pike's Big E?

Vektor - Looks Great!!!! Can't wait to see more and I am glad to see that they have someone who knows the feeling the fanbase has regarding the look of the Gray Lady (at least the outside of her) working on this. Can't wait to see it on the big screen!!

For the record, I personally am in no way connected with the actual Trek XI production.

Well crap!!!!!!!! There goes that dream. I was really hoping that someone who has a love of the Gray Lady as she appeared on the small screen would keep her as close as possible to what she appeared when they put her on the big screen (Airplane II does not count).

Either way - fine job.

Be careful here. Assuming this is a "what-if" fake by Vektor, you NEED to mark it so on the image, because it could easily be misconstrued once it makes the rounds on the interwebs.

Especially using Paramount's marks (obscured or not), is asking for trouble.

Which in no way alters the fact that I would display that poster on the wall of my office. Right now, I've got the blue/gold/arrowhead teaser, and I'm lookin' for a change-up

You lie! Please be lying? :(

That looks damn good, Vektor, like all your work. How about posting something of that pre-1701 ship you were working on, too?

Well, I’ll admit that I deliberately left the exact origins of this image open to interpretation because I was curious how the design of the ship would be received if people thought there was a chance it could be the real deal. I wanted an honest reaction, not just a presumption that it was something I made on my own.

Your point about the logo is well-taken, though. It’s pretty common for fan-made movie posters to include pretty much everything a real poster would have, but without the “fan-made” context I agree it could cause problems. I’ll be removing that shortly.

And even though this isn’t official, it is part of something larger that you should be seeing more of hopefully within the next few days.
