Trek VI Trailer Music

I was watching the TUC theatrical trailer on YouTube recently (the second trailer with footage from the film) and I was reminded that the music in the trailer is very different from any of the tracks that were composed by Eidelman for the final film. The trailer version of the "overture" is a variant of the "main title" from the film and is more similar to the Mars suite from "The Planets" on which it was based.

Also the version of the Trek fanfare that plays when the glowing Trek VI logo appears in the trailer is not the same music that is heard during the "Signing Off" cue from the soundtrack. I purchased a "complete score" cd for Trek VI at Comic Con and while it contains all of the music cues from the film as well as alternate tracks for the Finale and several other cues, the trailer music is not on the cd.

Does anyone know if the trailer cues are availaible anywhere or if these cues were taken from Eidelman's orginal demo for Nick Meyer? It's interesting that the trailer for Trek VI was the only one of the Trek films to make use of music that actually was contained in the finished film (or in this case, alternate versions of cues)

Anyone have any info?

All I can tell ya is that Eidelman composed the music especially for the trailer. Why it's not on the "unmentionable" release is a mystery and a disappointment.

Trailer music is sometimes recorded seperately from the film score, so it wouldn't be on the masters that was bootlegged.

Recently, Trevor Rabin recorded original music for the "Get Smart" movie trailer, but not any of the score.

I stand corrected.

There are elements of the TWOK theme that show up in TSFS, I musta got confused.

Horner does a good job of making the music merge together, kind of like John Williams does at times...

Speaking trailer music, the music used for TFF, which was from TWOK, pumped me up so much I couldnt wait to see the movie -- and I still remember this 18 years later.

Or a few movies earlier...
And sometimes, trailer music that isn't a sequel's predecessor is great. The music that was used for LOTR:TTT was a new version of "Requiem for a Dream," and it kicked butt! I'd love to see that paired with a Trek movie.

That was the Teaser, with the shot of the enterprise with scenes from trek's past projected on the hull from the inside, and a voice over by Chris Plummer.

I can't think of the exact music your talking about but I looooove the LOTR music. When I hear the main theme I want to jump on a horse, pick up a sword and dash across the shire fighting minions of evil.

Since we don't have a shire or dark lords around here, I'd settle for a corn field with a couple cows to tip.
