Trek Scientists

I've trying to build a realistic crew set up of the TMP Enterprise for an RPG using the Rec-Deck shots for some inspiration. I also bought Strategic Designs Enterprise A plans for some extra help on understanding the way the ship is set out.

One thing I've noticed is that the science compliment seems a bit skewed. We know the ship has 14 science labs although that doesn't necessarily relate to only 14 scientists. We know that the ship has a Physics Department and a Life Sciences Department. Apart from that it's all a bit vague.

Strategic lists the following science officers and I was wondering if anybody else felt that these are a bit off and if so, which discliplines should be adjusted or replaced. I know it's canon that the ship has one, but I've always thought that a science posting of an official historian is just daft (Lt McGyvers appeared to be an engineer as well as a historian), particularly at the cost of a Zoologist, Ecologist, Meteorologist, or Biochemist (particularly when Strategic lists both a Biochemistry and Chemistry Lab). I can buy rolling History in with Anthropology and Archaeology with Paleobiology. Any other thoughts?

Chief Science Officer
Archaeologist
Anthropologist
Biologist
Botanist
Chemist
Computer Scientist
Astrogeologist
Physicist
Astrophysicist
Biophysicist
Chaos Physicist
Historian
Sensors Officer
Cartographer

Edit: Hmm - I suppose we have to assume that Sulu was the ship's Operations Officer and that he wouldn't normally have been assigned to helm (which is a junior post). However, in a Pre-TNG scenario, what would an ops officer do on board ship and where would he normally be situated? Best option I've come up with so far is the Flight Control Room (co-ordinating shuttle, EVA, and aft phasers) but is that giving the ops officer too narrow a role? Maybe the Power Distribution Centre is a better place to put him.

Lol thanks to no input even from the nerds I've had to wing it. Strategic designs TMP ship seem to be three labs short. I swapped the Tachyonic Lab for Geology on the assumption that the high energy lab could devote to tachyon research but I suppose a proper tachyon lab and a proper astronomy/stellar cartography lab wouldn't go amiss. It would still be helpful if anybody can think of other disciplines that would be useful for a long space mission of exploration:
