Trek novel publication order questions

I will confess, I've had some books sitting on my shelf unread for about 20 years, but when it comes to series I don't buy more than the first two books before I have at least read the first one. After that I still try not to get to far ahead of myself unless I absolutely love the series and know I will definitely continue.

Vanguard and Seekers are really different; Seekers is a spinoff, not a continuation. If you're waiting on a definitive end to Seekers before you read Vanguard, you should stop. Vanguard is a complete story and it's awesome.

Yeah, I know what Seekers is, It's just on my "to read" shelf because I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm not waiting on a "proper" ending. The beauty of being a voracious reader is you never run out of stuff to read.

Word. I just finally read Max Gladstone's Craft sequence, which has been on my to-read list since it started in 2012. The fun part about waiting six and a half years is that then there's six books to binge instead of one!

In what way is Seekers different than Vanguard? I haven't read them.

Vanguard was a series centering on the titular starbase, its crew and residents, and other characters including the crews of the several starships based out of the starbase. It told a complex, sprawling saga with a beginning and end. Seekers is a spinoff about two of those starships and their episodic adventures. VNG has been described as a 23rd-century Deep Space Nine, but Seekers is more about classic TOS-style storytelling.

Very interesting. I may need to check them out. They're on sale now, as a matter of fact.
