Trek models in the same scale

Hello,

Sorry if this has been covered but I can’t find it.

I loved Trek Micro Machines as a child and like the Eaglemoss series running currently but I get really frustrated that I can’t get ships to scale with each other.

Are model kits my best option? I know some ships differ too greatly in size (shuttles, Borg cube), but I’d love, for example, models of all the ships that appear in movies 1-6 in one scale. They don’t need to be large, in fact I’d rather they weren’t.

That's probably the best way if you want consistency among all your ships, and you don't mind all the work putting them together. The model kits do specify what scale they are in. So you could opt to get everything in the same scale, such as 1:1000 (that's kind of big), or 1:2500 to have room for more ships. You might run into issues if a ship you really like is only available in a different scale.

With stuff like Micro Machines and Eaglemoss, they aim for everything to be a similar size, even if in-universe something should actually be a lot bigger or a lot smaller than something else.

The only 1-6 movie models in the same scale I know of are the ENT Refit, which can also be built as the ENT-A (2 kits required)

Both kits above come with optional battle damage decals included. 4 kits of ENT required for all versions possible.

You might get better luck in the Fan Art section, where the model-building is congregated.

As mentioned, 1:1000 has become a common scale for Trek kits. In addition to the Enterprise-Refit, Reliant, Grissom, and KBOP, there are also Excelsior, Voyager, TOS-Enterprise, DSC-Enterprise, Discovery, Kelvin, NX-01, Defiant, TOS Romulan Bird of Prey, and TOS Klingon Battlecruiser.

There are also a lot of 1:350 scale kits if you like really big models, as well as 1:2500 options if you'd like things a bit smaller (and, thus, more practical for larger ships like the Enterprise-D and -E).

And that's just officially licensed kits. If you're going for homemade kits or 3D printed models for more obscure ships or scales, the sky's the limit, but those options will be more difficult to assemble and paint to the same level of quality you can get with a mass-market kit.

You were correct adding the Excelsior to the list, but these are not movie 1-6 ships.

Thanks all for the replies so far. 1:1000 models do seem to offer the ships I like, though my model painting is not great!

a 3D printer would be amazing but I don’t have the space at present.

Other custom building options appeal to me but not sure I have the patience to see such projects through…

There are some services around that you can send the 3d printer files too and have them printed and mailed to you. Here in the states a lot of local libraries have been investing in 3D printers and allowing members to print items while paying a fee for the filament used.

I'm in the US and whenever I get something 3D printed it ends up getting shipped from France.
I think the one I've used is Shapeways, but now I can't remember for sure. It's been a couple years. Maybe something local would have a better price.
