Trek Lit Jokes from the past

Does anyone remember the special story from a few years ago... how Morn was supposed to get like a 6 part story in a series of novels to explore the "complex mystery" behind this beloved character (or something rather close). :guffaw:
I LOVED the website that went all out... and you couldn't tell really until the very end that it wasn't real. Have their been any good Trek Lit news of the FAKE variety (like this April Fools joke from years ago) or anything else 'twisted' to be something that isn't real (i'm thinking along the lines of the cover changes from a few weeks ago). Any replies are appreciated! :techman:

The "let's all send Marco proposals for Trek Porn" deal from a few years ago is probably still my favorite, mostly due to the level of...um...commitment with which the participants carried out their roles, and the reaction it got when Marco at first didn't get the joke. :)

A few years back, I posted a fake news story that NBC would be picking up DS9 during its seventh season, which got picked up and spread to other Trek news sites. That was fun. :D

The last one I participated in was two years ago. CBS had just bought the TV rights to all things Trek, and I set up a website for their new game show Starfleet Academy. Eager, costumed young cadets vied for $250,000 and a small speaking role in the forthcoming J.J. Abrams Trek movie.

Splash Page. Subsequent pages told that the official on-air kick-off announcement would be on an episode of Survivor that following Thursday night.

Appreciated by some, despised by ... appreciated by some. :D

April Fool pranks are like surprise birthday parties, you just can't do them too close to the actual date.

Not Trek *Lit*, but I remember Startrek.com advertising the upcoming ENT episode where Archer's beagle and Trip are genetically combined. The ep was called:

PORKER

:guffaw:

I so wish I'd saved the April 1st thread (it was either the year before or the year after the porn proposals were sent to Marco) where, quite spontaneously, everyone began describing the terrible, deviant acts which occurred in early Trek novels and scarred them for life, beginning with Spock's very inappropriate treatment of a planetary prefect's dog. I'd thought I'd kept a copy, but I've never been able to find it.

Was that an April Fool's gag? I kinda think it was just a bunch of spontaneous ridiculousness that is so rarely seen amongst the regulars here.

Hmmm...I'm thinking of the thread where we started ripping into each other and various books and whatnot. Memory's fuzzy, though.

Well, in the sense that it occurred (well, began) on April 1st, it was.

*sigh* I remember falling for that one...

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman
Me too.
TBH I was really disapointed that nobody here did an April Fools this year thread.

I saved the thread Dayton is talking about, from 2006, which started with Jeff Ayers asking for a summary of Prometheus Design and ended up with everyone "ripping into each other". But I don't think that's the thread that David asked. so it must be before the porn Trek episode, and I don't have those two.

well, the 2006 April Fool's thread started on 31st March, USA time, so it took a while for a lot of people to figure it out.

No, that's the one I'm thinking of. I might've conflated it in my head with another thread or two, but that's definitely the source of the bulk of what I was remembering.

^ Okay, yes, yes. I had forgotten how the "Red Hour" gag had initially kicked off, but now I recall how the dog figured into it.

Ah, memories...
