Trek guest actors in maybe surprising roles

John Colicos, Joanne Linville, and Celeste Yarnall appear in Scorpio (1973). Not a good film, a waste of Burt Lancaster, and a weak follow-up to Winner's The Mechanic, but notable for its unique location shooting at CIA Headquarters. Yarnall also appears in The Mechanic (1972).

As does Charles Bronson, who is one degree of separation from Jill Ireland, who was in This Side of Paradise. :D

OMG, I had no idea there was Lurch song, so I Googled and found

Ted Cassidy/Lurch dancing is just too awesome. He is surprisingly nimble.

This is right up there with Leonard Nimoy singing about Bilbo Baggins. Was it the same variety show?

Six foot nine inch Ted Cassidy surrounded by average sized women. Looks like he's surrounded by children, doesn't it?

Different shows.

Cassidy's October 1965 appearance was during the Fall half of Shindig!'s second and final season, while Nimoy's July 1967 "Bilbo" appearance was on a 7-week summer replacement series called Malibu U.*

* (Not my Dad's usual kind of TV programming, but for some reason he happened to be watching it -- possibly just because Nimoy was on -- so I actually saw the original airing of "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins".)

The Rat Patrol episode "Darers Go First" took place on Cestus III!

The show's first season was filmed in Spain. I didn't know S2 was filmed in the US until I saw this.

I should have said "main Substitute Artie". I remembered Hale, but forgot that Schallert was the other one.

Charles Aidman was also the narrator on the first two seasons of the 1980s Twilight Zone revival. So he was a substitute Rod Serling too, you could say.

Also, I tend associate Aidman primarily with his Substitute Artie role because it's the main thing I happen to know him from...whereas Hale is easily best known as the Skipper, and Schallert was in freaking everything. ("The Night of the Winged Terror" must have been a Tuesday.)
