Yeah, I guess at that point he must have still felt like his Greek name wasn't mainstream-sounding enough for American audiences.BTW, (and off topic) I saw Peter Lupus in 'Muscle Beach Party' recently. It was 1964, and he was officially billed under the name "Rock Stevens."![]()
De Kelley was something of a matinee idol for a while before his star fizzled. Not sure what went wrong.
DeForest Kelley [was in] the 1965 movie called Town Tamer.... DeForest was due to film a fight scene and...Michael Landon came by to watch DeForest shooting and out of the blue Michael asked if he could be DeForest's stunt double and do the fight scene himself. This caused quite an uproar as Paramount were afraid that if Michael got hurt they would have to stop the Bonanza production, and he was told “no” he couldn't do it. Michael, it seemed, wouldn't give up and he went to the top and promised he wouldn't get hurt. In the end Paramount relented and let him do the fight scene for DeForest.
DeForest, when later making another movie shortly afterwards was asked by the director who was doubling for him lately and DeForest replied "Michael Landon!"
