Trek guest actors in maybe surprising roles

Has anyone mentioned Shatner in Boston Legal?

He breaks the fourth wall quite a few times in that series, he even once says: "I used to be the captain of my own starship.", à propos of nothing!

He was only a guest star before Star Trek! After that whenever he appeared in anything, be it Police Woman, The Six million Dollar Man or whatever it was he was the main actor in that particular episode! :D

Actually ST was his second starring role in a TV series. The first was in For the People, a courtroom drama that ran for 13 episodes in early 1965. He played the lead character, a New York City DA named David Koster. If the show had been successful, someone else would've ended up commanding the Enterprise.

I think I saw something, I don't know if this was that series but he was taken hostage by someone who's been convinced a long time before (there were a few flashbacks ) and wanted his trial to be done a second time by the people he was detaining. Does that ring a bell?

I don't think so, because he is not generally considered a guest actor.
He guest-starred as George Kirk; android Kirk; Mirror Kirk; Garth disguised as Kirk....

Not much danger of that...it was on against Bonanza...and not the only one-season wonder to die an obscure death in that slot.

William Windom turns up in Streets of San Francisco's 45 minutes from home as a man who believes he's killed a floozie in her home by accident when in reality it was her nasty boyfriend!

Windom is a special case. He was in EVERYTHING. He must have worked as hard and long as any regular on any long run series.

You're right about that. I remember him in an episodes of The Invaders, another sci. fi. series from the sixties. He was also in the Six Million Dollar Man. I am pretty sure I saw him in Columbo too.

Caught part of an episode of Outer Limits the other day which featured both James Doohan and Skip Homier. Something about psychic powers and murder, I think.

Was he ever in an episode of the Steve Austin show? I must have missed that one...:vulcan:
