Trek guest actors in maybe surprising roles

Nichelle Nichols is toward the left. I just saw this on TCM. Very sexy, magnetic scene, where she's rolling dice.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but a double feature, from NEVER SO FEW starring Frank Sinatra ...

Oh, and this fellow with the head bandage had an uncredited role in the same flick

Was Clegg Hoyt any relation to John Hoyt? A bit of a coincidence if not, the older actor's real name was Hoysradt so with Clegg playing mostly the heavy in television seems a bit of an elevation which ultimately led nowhere!

I don't think Hoyt is that rare a name, really. And coincidences happen. I can attest to that -- I not only share a name with Trek movie producer Harve Bennett's son Christopher E. Bennett, but he and I are roughly the same age. That's part of the reason I chose to include my middle initial in my professional byline, to differentiate myself from him in case Trek fans got confused (although in all the years I've been writing Trek fiction, I think at most one person has ever brought it up). Of course, Harve Bennett's real surname was Fischman.

Speaking of names and their rarity, I've long found it interesting that I've pretty much ever heard of anyone named Shatner, Nimoy, or Doohan outside of the Trek actors and their immediate families. I've maybe seen a Schattner once, but that's about it. I can't recall ever seeing another Takei either, even though I watch a lot of Japanese movies and TV shows.

That's true! Apart from Bill's two daughters and Nimoy's son, Adam, who is a director and Doohan's son Chris! They are uncommon names that we don't come across in every day life!

A lot of Kathy Browne today! A second appearance in Have Gun Will Travel this morning on H&I, as a fallen angel trying to go straight as a saloon owner. Then again this afternoon on an episode of Police Story as Darrin McGavin's girlfriend. The ep also featured Leslie Parrish as a murder victim's wife, and John Fiedler as a witness.

I wonder if Kathy and Darren actually met on that show as I'm sure he had children and an ex-wife somewhere!

There's an episode of Gomer Pyle on Decades about a computer dating service scam...the faked computer sound effects (played on a record in the episode) sound awfully familiar...bridging the gap between networks you might say.

ETA: And less than two months after TOS, GP is doing its own hippie episode...featuring Rob Reiner as Moondog.

According to the Schattner geneology page (http://schattner.byethost8.com/Schattner.html) "William Shatner shares the atypical family surname spelling common to members of the Canadian branch." One of the members of the extended Schattner family (very religious Jews) lived in my neighborhood around the 1980s.
