Trek. Good Actors?

Hi.. watched some file about star trek fans..

in it, ones of the interviewees, a gay black guy.. said he liked trek cos of all the amazing actors..implying they were above board

now.. im not saying that trek actors are bads. but they certainly aint special..

the only person who i could think of who is reallyy goods is

Patrick Stewart.

he is legendry the other people are just good (and some, well known)..

William Shatner's acting was much better than Patrick Stewarts.

Stewart just mimicked Shatner for the whole first season of TNG before he developed his own style of captain acting.

I think Colm Meaney is a better actor than Stewart to be honest. He can pull of anything. I cringe when Picard has to do something comedic.

I think Colm is great too; he never jars you out of a scene, sometimes that happens when Terry Farrell is trying to act or Avery Brooks is having an OTT moment.

Actually, Picard was written and played as a humorless stiff, so when Picard was called upon by circumstances to loosen up, he couldn't. It wasn't Stewart's bad acting, in fact, it was Stewart's skills as an actor that kept him in character.

I agree that there are some very fine actors in Trek, just a few here:

DS9: Avery Brooks, Armin Shimmerman, Rene Auberjonois, Aron Eisenberg; Max Grodenchik, Brock Peters, Terry Farrell, Chase Masterson. ETA: Andrew Robinson

VOY: Robert Picardo, Ethan Phillips, Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan, Jennifer Lien, John Rhys-Davies, Susanna Thompson, John Savage, Dwight Schultz, Richard Herd

^ At least *somebody* had the good sense to mention Vaughn Armstrong. I was beginning to think people had forgotten about him! He's one of the best and hardest working Trek actors out there. Nobody can beat his record (not even Wayne Alexander from B5).
