Trek goes NASCAR

First it was baseball, now my other favorite sport has gone Trek! The #12 Penske Racing/Star Trek Dodge Charger driven my David Stremme is currently racing at Richmond Intl. Speedway. Here's some pics!

NASCAR!?!?!?!

I'm not a big racing fan, but turned on Nascar on Fox tonight a few minutes ago, and spotted something.

I have no idea who the driver is, who the owner, is, etc., but car #12...

Is the "Star Trek" car. From the lettering and coloring, it seems it's representing the movie.

No, it doesn't look like he's gonna win. Sorry.

Ack! the #12 Trek car was in a wreck. Maybe out of the race. Commentator Darrell Waltrip said they needed Scotty right away.

They flashed it on the screen as the pit crew are trying to unbend dented in portions of the car.

The driver also said something about it not getting any power now.

It's hard to make out for sure what happened there, but it looks like someone tried to go inside and nudged the 12 car out into a spin. The whole rear end looks trashed where he hit the wall.

Well TOS is part of the popular culture, modern trek is not. Everyone knows Kirk, Spock, and Scotty.

Crewchief: I canna give it you. The carburetor is already operating at 110 percent.
Stremme: Give me 120.
Crewchief: The wheels will fly off!
Stremme: Then I'll fly them off.

Stremme is a middle-of-the-pack-quality driver at best, but it was still neat to see a Trek paintscheme on a car.
