Trek comic books

Captain
I'm reading Maelstrom, a collection of TNG DC comics, its ok but its totally ridiculous, especially the writing, its like Friedman, who coincidentally scripted an episode for Voyager, realizes hes committed a plot hole mistake mid way through, then tries to explain it away through overwrought dialogue. And why are there scenes of the characters just sitting around doing nothing!

Anyone else read these?

Can't say that I have, but I don't seem to be able to keep up with comic books overall these last few years, so that really isn't a slam on the books themselves.

They do sound quite interesting.

IMO, the thing about Star Trek comics is that--like the actual TV shows and movie themselves--some stories are gems, while others make you go "WTF?".

Personally, I loved DC's TOS comics during the 80s when they were written by Mike W. Barr. Malibu, Marvel, Wildstorm, and (currently) IDW have also produced some excellent Trek comics too since then...

Yeah the current IDW stuff is better than most of what has come out from other publishers in the past.

Oh, yeah! They're producing a new "Alien Spotlight" series as well as the last adventure when the Enterprise finished its five-year mission.

The thing I'm most interest in is the comiic adaptation of The Wrath of Khan." The franchise was in limbo when the movie cam out 25 years ago. I usually don't buy adaptations (I'd rather go see the movie again), but TWOK is my favorite Trek movie and it's always bothered me that it was never released in a comics format. :vulcan:
