In today’s culture imagine how many people would join the fight against the Soulless Minions Of Orthodoxy? There are people who pay $36 for water with parasites in it because an unscientific source said it was healthy, imagine how much they would pay for a cellular entertainment device.

Also of course Garak could just mess with the audience and rail off fake conspiracies with just enough real conspiracies hidden in them to obsess the audience.
