TREK and stock footage

The thing about the BoP from Generations that makes it worse than reusing stuff from TMP in TWOK is that that was a climactic battle scene. It needed new stuff.

Generations probably had the worst stock footage. We had:

-Shot of the Excelsior at warp from TUC fill in for the Enterprise B at warp.
-Generic flyby shot of the Enterprise D from the series was used.
-Of course, the infamous Bird of Prey explosion from TUC.

Nope..three for three..

TWOK had..

Launch of ENTERPRISE from space dock
Ship warping MINUS he Trumbal light effect
Two flybys from TMP...
AND...the reuse of the klingon batte vs VGR during the bridge test at the start of the movie..

The only reason why, I think, GENERATIONS gets bashed is because TWOK is like the bible to TREK fans...you can't diss it....

But if you weigh what TWOK did to what Generations did? I think TWOK raped TMP far more than Generations raped whatever it raped..

TWOK's stock footage doesn't bother me so much. Let's go over your list.

-Enterprise launching from spacedock. A ship can only fly out of a space station so many ways. Nothing wrong with re-using that.

-Flybys and warp shots are okay. I know I dissed Generations on reusing both, and I will explain that briefly.

-Klingons vs V'Ger. It was a minor plot point in the movie and they probably wanted to save their budget for the more important action later on.

I will now explain the problems I had with the stock footage in Generations:

-There are noticeable design differences between the Excelsior and the Enterprise B. Using a warp shot of the Excelsior for the Enterprise B is jarring.

-Reusing generic flyby shots is fine, and most of the time I don't care. However, here they took a generic flyby of the Enterprise D from the series, and tried to fit it onto the big screen, the end result looks grainy as hell, and does not fit.

-The Bird of Prey exploding is one of TUC's signature shots and having it reused here is just cheap.
