Trek aesthetics

I like Voyager's doors, the black with silver trim is elegant. janeway's office with the low couch is an inviting work area as well. Picard's office area on the D looks comfortable, too.

The TOS bridge is too small with only one way in or out, with no private sanctum adjacent to the bridge for Kirk and apparently no bathroom for the bridge crew. And the colors made it look as if the bridge had been constructed from Lego blocks.

I liked the symmetry of the Cardassian design of DS9, with its faintly Art Deco lines. The colorful designs on the headboards of the beds in the quarters were a nice touch as well.

Refit TOS Enterprise by a countrymile. I like the Enterprise-D, it being an intuitive overhaul from the movies era 80 years before. Not really won over to the JJ one which seems over elaborate, cavernous and difficult to orientate oneself in. The TOS bridge is nice tho. Voyager bridge I didn't like. Cold, unimaginative and merely functional. I find it difficult to love, that one. The NX is similiar although it probably does befit the era so it's difficult to argue against that as such.

When I saw the first 2 movies again I was surprised how cramped and simple the bridges seemed, compared to the original series bridge, considering that at the time, they were supposed to be big budget improvements.

I wonder if the NuTrek Enterprise has white walls to allow for reflection of any ambient light from consoles, etc for when the main lights go out, to make it less dangerous to move around in the dark.
