Trek 50th Anniversary Specials

I've got the Ultimate Trek: Star Trek's Greatest Moments special from 1999 hosted by Jason Alexander on in the background ATM...Decades and H&I were showing it last week...good lord, is it lame and annoying!

Leonard Nimoy: Star Trek Memories was pretty good. I like how it went into geeky levels of detail about how they came up with Spock's famous bits of business. It also had some classic cred, being from back between TWOK and TSFS.

For those in Australia, the documentary "Building Star Trek" will be on SBS this Sunday at 8.35 pm.
I watched this last night. It was quite enjoyable, if a bit of a mish-mash. Saddest moment was when the EMP museum unpacked the original TOS nav console and found it to be a wreck. A shame the doco didn't go into how that was restored, as it looks good now.
Nice to see the care that went into restoring the Enterprise model. At first I was suspicious of how little we saw of the final result, but then I realised they held back because the Smithsonian want people to actually visit the museum and see it for themselves. Fair enough, considering how much the restoration would have cost.

It is gorgeous in person. FYI admission to the Smithsonian is FREE.
