Hi guys just had to share this story. I was just looking at the interface Time Warner rolled out this week for the HD boxes, and did a search of STAR TREK, and to my AMAZEMENT something called STAR TREK-NEW came up, so I hit the info key, and it had the detail of the new Trek movie! Now mind you it said $11.99, and I couldn't tell if it was in HD or not, but I just couldn't resist.

So now I'm watching the new Trek movie, in my home theater, sadly it's in 4x3 'modified to fit my television' version, which is something I thought they did away with in the 20th Century, and not in HD, but pretty cool. I called Time Warner and told them I thought the content was in HD and they will credit my account.

I'm sure it's a mistake that it's available. I don't get any play controls, to stop it I have to tune away from it, and then select it again in my menu. No pause, play or rewind functions. Looks like a goof, but it sure is fun.

Yeah, I had to see if it was real, and I figured I could get a credit if I just checked. Since when is On Demand content more than $9.99!? Even that is pricey for 24 hours of viewing time.

This is not new. I was in New Hampshire while War of the Worlds was still in theatres, and I ordered it on PPV. But Trek 09, It looks just as good on the small screen as it does on the big.

Wow, I thought On Demand/PPV movies were still like $4.99. Why in the world would anyone pay 10-15 bucks?

Probably because it's not even out on DVD yet, which makes it really exclusive. Mind you, I've also heard it's being offered as a movie option by some American airline company (can't remember which one).

All the studios are making big "on demand" deals, releasing big films exclusively way before the DVD is out. It doesn't hurt DVD sales because they know we'll want the widescreen BluRay version and special features!!

But now, what will happen is there will be alot of new pirate version out on the net since most can now record it. This should be interesting to see how soon that will pop up on the torrent sites if it has not already.

My mom recently came home from a cruise. She told me they played it on the airplane over to Europe AND on the cruise ship.

I just got off a Carnival cruise ship on Sunday morning and it was playing, for free, continuously on their movie channel every day - YAY!!
