Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 1701

Bones1864

Admiral
Experienced Starfleet Captain Robert T. April has to command the brand new Starship Enterprise NCC-1701 on her maiden Voyage into the unknown with young Commander Christopher Pike at his side as he learns the ropes. Along for the journey is young cadet James Kirk for his first trip into the Final Frontier. Clean and simple.

Not gonna happen, deal with it !

Gereral Audiance : Hun what ? Who ? What's going on ?

Me : I don't want to have to explane this film to them.

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

Bring in Number One, and Boyce.

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

Robert T. April is not canon...

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

Nor is Kirk serving under Pike. :wtf:

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

Of course, once it appeared on screen, it WOULD be canon...

Has to? And... if he doesn't?

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

I think that Pike being in command for a maiden voyage could be rationalized by having April supervising the construction and testing of Enterprise, not serving as an actual mission commander.

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

Who the frak is Robert April? I've never seen him in canonical Trek.

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

And why does everyone have to have the middle initial T?

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

No, some people have an R as a middle name! ;)

Re: Trek 11 : Admiral Robert T. April has to command t he 17

Did they fix that in the "Trek remastered" version?

Re: Robert T. April has to command the 1701

Depends on whether the writers of the film think The Animated Series is canon or not. Starting the film with the construction of the U.S.S. Enterprise and having it's first Captain be Christopher Pike would contradict one episode of The Animated Series, The Counter-Clock Incident. But it wouldn't be the only thing ignored by a live-action production. Anyway it turns out, fans will come up with a theory to explain the inconsistencies. No matter how hard they try, they'll be lots of them...

Re: Robert T. April has to command the 1701

^ Do we know that the movie starts with or features the construction of the ENT? I mean, I've heard that the trailer will show her being constructed, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the movie will feature such a scene.

Re: Robert T. April has to command the 1701

The mainstream audience is looking for a movie about young Kirk and Spock. They would be utterly baffled if they walked into a movie about two guys they never heard of, with Kirk serving only a small side role.

Sorry, but ain't gonna happen. And it shouldn't. I never understood the fan fixation with these extremely minor characters, anyway.

Re: Robert T. April has to command the 1701

Captain James T. Kirk was only 11 or 12 years old. At the time when Captain Robert Thomas April commanded the Enterprise on her maiden voyages.
