Trek 09 An "Unqualified Blockbuster"

And Star Trek may still have some life left in it. It is actually now outperforming Iron Man on a day to day basis, and that film went on to make another $4M after its 82nd day.
:)

Interesting part of that article.

Yup. It's because a little movie called The Dark Knight came out at this point in Iron Man's run. Luckily Star Trek doesn't have a super-duper monster to effect it as much.

Of course the hope is that the sequel will actually be the super-duper monster...

Yeah, thank God there's not a movie about giant robots or something that inexplicably makes more money than God in its first week of release.

All kidding aside, that ST was able to keep going in spite of the popularity of T2 and Harry Potter is kind of amazing. And, as mentioned in the article, T2's current popularity bodes well for the BO of ST2 sometime in 2011. Nice.

Hopefully fans will keep their BO under control by bathing before they come to the theatre.
