Transformers One

The marketing is what failed this movie. It's easily the best Transformers movie ever made abd absolutely nothing like what the trailers made it out to be.

Lovely joke about the Go-Bots :)

The Quintessons are in this one…but they have a new ride—here is a a good replica of their old camshaft ships from the mid-80’s movie:

This is my second favorite Transformers movie.

No humans.

Good.

I saw it today, and for my part I enjoyed it. I will say the trailer is partially accurate, in that some aspects of the film are geared more for kids (the target audience). But TF One also draws on a lot of existing elements that have appeared in other formats within the franchise, and the wiki has a list here for those interested. And there are some well balanced story elements that are more mature, like D-16 evolving into Megatron because of Sentinel Prime's actions.

I did find it slightly odd that Sentinel never actually gets to transform during the movie, when his toy has a pretty cool vehicular mode and there will be a Studio Series figure for him as well. It's even more odd considering that transformation cogs are a plot element.

Eight theatrical freaking Transformers movies in the past not even 20 years, and not a single Captain Planet flick.

Corporations hate Planet Earth.

New child-oriented Transformers One flick underperforms. Maybe a gray, drab-looking movie about gray, drab-looking robots isn't a huge draw for kids these days.

Time for the Captain at last?!

^ I don't know what the heck that's supposed to mean, but I do know that I hate the Transformers franchise with a fiery passion. :)

Just that environmentalism and consumerism are incompatible.

Also, I agree that the Transformers is terrible.

looks like ONE got spanked at the box office by both Wild Robot and Beetlejuice

going down in flames unfortunately unless it develops miracle legs.

That's a shame. Sure there are moments where it is what it is(A kids movie) but it also draws from the more dramatic moments of other series that I don't think even the live action movies could match.

This is on Paramount Plus now, so I finally watched it. I actually enjoyed it. It was interesting seeing future Optimus and future Megatron working together at first, and Megatron's gradual slide to lead the eventual Decepticons. I liked how the created the Decepticon logo in-universe.

Interesting also how they changed the Quintessons. I wonder if they were getting energon to make them less organic.

So I watched this. It's definitely not as bad as the trailers made it out to be. I really like the amount of lore they put into it and how they set up the motivations of certain characters. It's still not great though. It's about 20 minutes too long IMO. It's pretty predictable too. You can see where it's going and what reveals are coming. If they are going to try honor everything that's come before then at least make it an interesting story.
